Your always going to have some positive crank pressure. It's just how much you have can be the issue. Are you burning they oil?

The pancake value opens under vacuum and sucks all the shit gasses out of the crankcase to reburn them. It's called a positive crankcase ventilation bc you will always have some pressure built up. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Internal engine components seal well, but not perfectly. I'm sure it is just fine.

I've noticed when I open the cap after running the engine to operating temp I can see oil burning/smoke. Possibly the pcv or one of the checkvalves are not functioning correctly?

Where exactly is it leaking oil ftom? You're certain it's the valve cover and not the cam tensioner gasket?

In your original post you said you replaced the pcv valve but above you state that the Pressure Relief Valve (pancake valve) was replaced. Have you replaced both or did you only replace the PRV?

Are we talking about a 1.8t?

Torque spec for valve cover and VVT actuator are both 10 Nm (7ft lbs). I always use grey permatex in the corners of the valve cover seal before putting the gasket on and I've never had any issues.
