    I heard these are specific to your transmission type (if this was for a 6MT it might not fit my B8.5 Allroad with an 8 speed).... is that true?

    That would be news to me, I'm pretty sure it fits a4/a5 and avants. I checked AWE's website and if you hit the "This Fits +" dropdown by the downpipe it shows 2013-2016 Allroad with Tiptronic transmission. check it out...

    It is 3" where it mounts to the HFC but the main downpipe is 2.5". AWE's exhaust is 2.5", i think they found 3" to be to large for the 2.0T. There dual exhaust goes from 2.5 to 2.25 when it splits.
