CTS Pulley with GIAC Stage 2

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Did some searching and couldn't come up with much. Is anyone currently running this combo? I called a local authorized GIAC dealer and they said GIAC has a file for my CTS pulley so I would be fine. They said it would be $2200 (this was before the summer sale mind you). Does that seem a bit steep (APR territory) for just ECU and TCU tune? My thought is they pork you when using a non-AWE pulley.

    Thanks in advance.

IIRC, you can purchase the tune from any of our online vendors (I purchased mine from Justing@urotuning, I recommend contacting him) and then go to any authorized GIAC dealer for the flash.

I am running that setup. I have the GIAC Forge Stage 2 file for my car. The Forge pulley is just a hair larger than the CTS. I have GIAC's TCU tune as well. You know my woes with the 1/4 times... I would probably suggest going with their AWE pulley file to be a bit more conservative.

It's interesting they said they have a file now for the CTS Pulley. When I had mine done they didn't. I just gave them the measurement for the CTS pulley and they used the Forge file.

I paid for the file only and it wasn't bad ($200) but keep in mind I had the GIAC Stage 1 already.

The tune is very versatile/dynamic (e85, dual pulley, race, etc). Unfortunately there is no e85 available where I live so I can't take full advantage of what this tune offers.

Sure, but didn't you drive down and get custom tuned by EPL? If EPL is legit as people think it is, then surely this would be better than anything else out there - you have a file built specifically for your car!

Yeah trapping 107mph in great early July conditions (quite an oxymoron; 10xx DA, low 60s) certainly didn't make me jump for joy after a 3 hour ride to CT for a dyno tune. With that said, I do feel like this package will make someone happy. Getting an email back from your tuner in less than 10 minutes is unprecedented.

I've used Germany Performance Service in Brighton for my stage 2 flash. They are good guys there.

Adam- You're not an N= 1 experiment here on this one.

    1. The car produced power when tested here.
    2. You have a similar modded car (tuned by the tuner your thinking of switching to) running the same times, at the same track, in the same conditions with MORE mods.
    3. You have not logged at the track, in the conditions your running...

I think you should do 1 or 2 things.

    1. Log... at the track, during your actual runs.
    2. Wait till conditions are better and/or go to a different track.

Please let us know how we can help.

I know I know. I'll end up keeping the tune more than likely. And when I go back to the track this fall I WILL ice the blower and let the car sit for 2+ hours.

We will be at 2 private rentals this Fall at Lebanon Valley (~2.5 hours from you). I'd gladly provide track side support through out the day if you want to make the trek out.

Their site says local install only- it would be nice if you could though. I've considered switching to GIAC if I could use my Revo pulley but they state GIAC won't allow them to do that.

Was it GIAC that said that or the shop that is flashing the GIAC file? I am running the CTS pulley with their stage 2 file and the shop didn't give me any issues at all and neither did GIAC. They actually used a file that matches closer to the diameter of the CTS pulley (Forge file).

Shop told me that which suspended my transition as I hate to spend the extra $500- from what I've found the Revo Pulley is 57.65MM which seems very close to the AWE pulley @ 57.55, but they only offered GIAC software for Emmanuele Designs Pulley or the AWE.

The boost request is so damn high on the Giac file that it just doesn't matter if you run the slightly smaller CTS pulley. Yeah maybe the cts pulley might make an extra 1/2 psi at high rpm compared to the awe pulley. But it still wouldn't come close to meeting/exceeding that boost request... I don't even see the point of the separate file for the forge pulley.

Solid point, but I'd rather not have to email my tuner at all. Don't even get me started on logging...

No, not even considering going to the track with these temps. I will go back this fall with an extremely favorable DA, let the car sit for a couple hours, and have at it.
