Never needed the Audizine forum more...

I'm installing ECS Tuning cf mirrors and CANNOT get the bottom (black plastic part) of the mirror back on. I got one side done and it has a gap between the turn signal. No matter what I do I cannot get it to fit flush. I'm really worried about starting the other side...

Saw this post on mirror caps. Maybe it will help (see post #18). Doesn't ECS provide instructions?

This part was the biggest pain...get the tabs or "fingers" facing the rear of the car in first, starting from the side closest to the car and working your way out. Once those are in place push the part of the bottom piece facing the front of the car up, you may have to use something to help pry it in. Also helps to have a trim removal tool holding the tab section in place. Once I was there I held the bottom in one hand and whacked the top with my other hand pretty hard. I hit it pretty good and nothing broke, and they ended up seating in flush.

Trying to be as descriptive as I can, it's tough unless you're there doing it unfortunately. I came real close to giving up...

    Hope this helps

I ran into the same issue when I was reinstalling that bottom piece. I found out it was because of the plastic tabs were not lined up correctly. You most likely ended up pushing the plastic tab to the opposite side where it should go. Make sure those tabs are lined up and it should click right in. Here a pic taken from the instructions provided by ECS.

Let me know if it makes sense.

Check those tabs I circled in previous post on step 9 of the instructions. Make sure they're lined up.

I'll go make sure I lined them up, but I know for a fact I lined up the two screwed in ones... I'll update in a bit if I have smashed the mirrors off the car.

Ok, so I just check and I have clicked in all of the tabs circled in that picture. Here is a picture of the gap between the mirror and the turn signal, and a picture of the inside.

    Gap:

Might just be poor fitment of the CF mirror cap? There is a thread on these that I remember reading and I'm pretty sure some people had the same complaints. They do however look really good! In for more pics

That's what I was thinking, but my buddy who has an RS5 installed his at the same time I did and had 0 problems... Maybe they are slightly different? I feel like the portion that sticks out from the car (far left plastic piece in 2nd photo) didn't have enough room as it did before. Still if anyone can help that would be awesome.

Okay that's a complete different issue than what I had. Mine literally had a finger gap cos I misaligned them haha.

It does look more like a poor fitment issue with the small gap.

Mine should arrive early next week I think.

I ordered mine through Ebay though. I will take some pictures for comparison.

If you are still not having any luck I would contact ECS and see what they say. Might be a flaw.

Okay!!! I have an update. I did not decide to hurt myself or the car! The driver-side mirrors went on in approximately 3 minutes, and the passenger-side still has the small gap. I think the mirrors might be slightly too large in one area as I spent at least an hour fiddling around with the clips. Here are so pictures for your viewing pleasure.

Looks great! Was it the passenger side mirror you had trouble with? My driver side one fit perfectly but the passenger side took a little work and has a veryyyyyy slight seam where you do. Maybe its an ECS fitment issue with the passenger side?

Yep it is the passenger side... I think that the mirror cap might be a little too bulky at the connection point to the car. Something just didn't seem right...
