    Unhappy Interior Roof Falling off/DRL

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hello guys,

I have looking around the forums and other sites on how to fix my problem. People said either to replace to whole material or glue it back by opening from somewhere . If I really do have to replace the whole thing, where can I do that and is it expensive?
My other problem is DRL are very low. I've only found guides for B7 or for no Premium headlights. I tried to look for the place to take the bulbs out but no luck, seems like I have to open up the whole headlight or am I supposed to change the power module?

    Problem:

I am still learning about audis since it is my first car

@Avantagg may be able to offer some insight as I believe he recently did an entire interior headliner and roof rail swap.

Regarding DRL, mine will dim when I have the switch to parking light but otherwise will be bright. Are both low? If you can get access to VCDS then you can change the coding to be bright all the time.

Ouch, sorry to see your troubles. A saggy headliner seems like a strange problem for such a new car. Is it still under warranty? Was there water damage? I can't offer much advice on patching it, but I am in the middle of a headliner swap myself and could offer you some pointers on how to remove it. The swap on my avant was a little different though. I followed @bakedziti's DIY for the removal. He's got a sedan: http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...dliner-Removal

I think there are a few headliners floating around the classifieds right now if you end up needing one. I'd consult a body shop or an auto upholstery shop first though. Probably cheaper and certainly less labor intensive.

I used to work at an upholstery shop, so I have seen plenty of this. The only way to fix this is to remove the headliner, scrape off the old material and replace it with new material. Any other attempt at fixing this will only result in you being disappointed and having to do what I said anyway. Depending on where you go it should be in the $300-$500 range.

Damn, at that price you might be better off looking for a used headliner. Especially if you're going to have to remove it anyway.

For this price, you may be better off buying a new headliner from the classifieds. IIRC, you need to remove either the windshield or rear window to get it out.

    Hahaha.

On a real note, it could probably be done if you remove the front seats and slide it in through the front door at an angle? Unless it's too wide. That girth might get ya

Yes, they are low no matter which switch they are on. I guess I have to buy the cable for VCDS?

You can fold it and remove it through the trunk, but you would also need to remove the trim in the trunk. The guy I picked up my black headliner from removed it through the trunk of the donor car, and I have no creases, but I didn't care to try it when I did the swap. He said that he tied a thin rope around it in 3 or 4 places while in the car, and then gently tightened until he could pull it out with help from a friend. I conveniently had my windshield replaced while swapping the headliner, so I avoided all of that non-sense. The safelite guy was really cool about hahaha

Nice, good to know if I even have to swap mine out for some reason!

The DRLs are at 100% when the ignition is on and headlight switch is set to "0" regardless of any vag com coding.

The vag com adjustment is only to change the brightness in their dimmed state, which is when parking lights or headlights are on.

Both sides are dim? My first thought was the DRL ballasts, but it would be strange for both of them to go bad in the same way
