A4 B7 multi function steering wheel controls

    Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone can help me out please.
I've recently replaced the symphony ii headunit which wasn't working when I got the car with an Android unit that has SatNav, Bluetooth and a few other bells and whistles. The installation went well however I've been unable to get the steering wheel controls working. For those in the know,

Are the steering wheel controls the resistive type or are they operated via canbus?

Would anyone have a schematic diagram of the wires that connect up to the steering wheel and or know the color code of those wires?

    Thanks

Since you car does the SWC through the can-bus you need an adapter. What harness did you use to wire in the radio?

    Hi Christian,
I used the harness that came with the radio which basically plugs into the factory 3 x plugs
    |power| , |front speakers| , |audio-out/canbus|
There was a canbus adapter supplied which also plugged into the supplied harness.
Canbus seems to be working correctly to turning the unit on and the lights function.

I don't yet have the am/fm radio working as I'm waiting for my powered adapter to arrive.
Just wondering if any radio faults are present, ie anntena open cct would prevent other radio functions like SWC?
There are no faults displayed on the dash and should be receiving my ODB2 adapter any day now to check.
    Thanks

The SWC is probably broken in the can box. It happens all the time. I would ask the manufacturer. We usually have a hard time programming the SWC in those radios because of your rolling controls. But I have had customers tell me it is possible.

Thanks Christian, not sure what you mean by broken in the can box, are you suggesting the can adapter supplied with the unit is supposed to communicate with the swc via canbus but may be broken. As far as asking the manufacturer, it's a no name brand android unit from China so I wouldn't know where to start trying to get information from them. The unit does has a resistive analogue swc input and was wondering if there is a way to convert the can swc signal to analogue?

Yes the can bus box should do the SWC. Since you cannot program the rolling controls I cant really help.
