    Dsg average service cost

Hello all, I was wondering what the average cost for a dsg service is. I just hit 70k miles and a local shop near work over the phone quoted me 650 out the door. I tried to do a search but tap talk search sucks.

Is this price to high for a non dealership?

i had an Audi dealership perform DSG service not too long ago. It was about $450 before tax, BUT from the parts list they only replaced the DSG fluid and external filter only.

I would only take it to an Audi dealer, have a buddy do it for you after buying the fluids from Audi or do it yourself with oem fluids. Bottom line, use oem fluids lol. Parts for the full service will come out right about $360 from Ecs (best price I found) with free shipping, but my local dealership was doing a 20% off discount on parts this month so it was about the same as Ecs.

very good price, my dealer wants around $650. That is why I am buying Audi Care. It is included along with four years of service. Save a few bucks that way. What is hourly rate of your dealer?

My nearest dealer (3 hours away) quoted me $665+tax. A local shop known for working on European cars said if I bring him the parts, he would do it for $300+tax (3 hours labor). So with $360 for parts from ECS I would be looking at $660 locally. I think I will save the drive and have the local guy do it.

If you think about it, these guys getting it for $450 are only being charged ~$90 for labor. That's a steal! I don't know how those dealers are doing it that cheap to be honest.

For some reason though I thought you needed to have some type of computer monitoring or such to reset the levels - trying to find the post for ours

It seems the time spent holding the fill of the fluid is what gets you

You need Vag com for transmission fluid temperature but that's it. I was going to do it myself but was quoted $470 at my local dealer, so I am saving myself the hassle and letting them do it.

Our's was covered under the Audi Care package, but the bill showed it was about half of the $800 or so for the 65k service. Now the reality is the trans fails 4 days later (WHAT!!) Audi stepped up replace the trans (twice the first time because something went wrong during the Adaption drive and a second box was called for), move on 5k miles later we were in for an Oil/Filter and mention a slight noise when pulling a way thru 1-2-3 shifts. The tech took it for a short drive noted the noise (sounded like a power steering pump low on fluid) placed the car on the rack, plug in to Audi world HC, and after a five min run on the computer the service writer came out and handed me the Keys to a Loner and said I was getting another NEW trans. That's 3 X $10k+ in three months. So be carful doing the trans your self, there can be complications.

    Mark.
