    Central Locks problem? No Alarm

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Okay, riddle me this one. 02' S6. Central locks module operates perfectly normal, I have tried a variety of coding for the module, as of now it is at 16000.
Which enables all the usual US options.
Using the key in the door, or the remote or any manner of locking the alarm does not arm, the horn does not beep. The lights flash, the doors lock, the remote windows up/down works fine. The module shows occasional drivers / passenger door 'can't unlock' error. I've seen it many times on many cars and it doesn't seem to have any effect.
BUT! The alarm never arms and the LED in the door never blinks...ever. I can leave the window down, lock the car, come back in an hour and reach in and open the door from the inside handle and it will just open. I can lock it, then put the key in the ign and no alarm. The interior monitor also does not set the alarm off.
No codes in that module either.
I have done factory reset 'basic settings...no change. A few months ago it worked fairly normal then at some point this started. Kind of don't care since the alarm sounds like a dying goose, but I'm curious.
    Anyone...? Sup with this?

Check continuity on the hood latch sensor. IIRC, my S6 will not arm the alarm or beep if it doesn't detect the hood is closed ... other than that, I would check my other nemesis ... the rear hatch microswitch

Yeah. Both of those seem to be working. And I know that you won't get a 'honk' if they're faulty/ open, but the alarm will arm and the LED will flash oddly/ rapidly.
What I have is basically NO alarm. Mixed blessing..nice if it works, even if it's useless.

I believe you need to add 8 to enable the alarm.

Not according to the math.. And also, I have another car (S6) and it's set at the exact same coding and it works just fine. I've actually coded the 5 or 6 C5 cars I've owned to either 16232 or 16200, the difference -32- enable auto lock/unlock, but otherwise enables all the usual US options and everything works fine.
THIS car, everything works fine..except there is simply no alarm at all.
And it seemed to have started one day without me noticing or changing the coding.

Not sure what to say, you have 16000 = 128,512,1024,2048 and 8192. If you search for Central locking Coding and go to images you can see that the values are for Central Locking computer (35). Also if you have the latest VCDS it should tell you when doing the coding. 8 is to enable and disable the alarm. You may also need 2.

I can also tell you that I just disabled my alarm by removing 8. This also removed the red light at the locks from turning on when locking the car. (I am having an issue with interior monitoring)

Sorry, I did more typo's , edited above ^. The Coding I use is either 16232 or *16200. The *32* enables/ disable auto-lock. I don't have the VCDS coding breakdown in front of me, but I have used this coding on half a dozen of my own cars and a dozen other cars since VW and Audi use the same module/ coding on a thousand models from 1999 to 2006, currently it's (16200) fully functional on one of my S6's and on the other there is no alarm.
I'll check the math again...I've been known to be wrong for YEARS and one day someone says ... "hey....you've been doing it wrong the whole time."

    So, 16200 is 8,64,256,512,1024,2048,4096,8192

I've attached the options. You should have alarm enabled. If you tried the diag mode in VCDS?

Diag Mode? Meaning output tests? Yes, tried it and it runs perfectly normal but the alarm never honks and the LED doesn't blink. It's as if the system has no problem whatsoever, but the alarm simply doesn't arm. I've put a multimeter on the horn connections and there's no signal when arming the alarm, so it's no even trying to do anything.
Might swap the alarm module with my other car next I guess..never looked for it. Where Da' heck is that thing?

It is under the carpet in front of the seat on the drivers side. Its in a box with a harness going to it. I just pulled mine to check for water issues. I removed the drivers kick panel, the dead pedal foot rest, and the lower trim along the door. Then you can pull up the carpet enough and swing the box out. Open the box and the module is inside.

Hey thanks! Figures since there's no Comfort Module that's where they'd hide it. Only suspicious thing I can think of is I swapped in a pair of chinese front door latches a few months back. The alarm worked fine after I installed them..but...I guess you never know. Just weird that it has no errors, car has no signs of DHMO intrusion and generally no issues except the alarm simply doesn't arm.
