Alright so I bought the carista app they've been talking about recently. This isn't a review, but I do have to start taking care of these issues.

So the control module could explain why I got hot twice after siting in trafic for awhile. If just the emergency fan or maybe it's the A/C fan is running and not the main fan...

There's a stutter or bucking when cruising and absolutely barely on the throttle, just enough to maintain speed. Possibly the evap leak? I was thinking maybe the MAP.

Well, I found my fan problem.

So now I need to figure out if the fan blade is re attachable t the motor. Not sure the motor even works, I need to jump it off with a wire to check it

I guess worst case is a Bad module and a fan?

lol, He sure did. That guy's so smart.

So the fan motor isn't moving. I'm guessing the module is bad?

Alright, Just scored a complete fan and shroud assembly on Rock Auto closeout for $68. Can't beat it, It's a TYC that normally runs $150
    http://www.rockauto.com/info/41/622710_2.jpg
So now I gotta grab a module.

Things just get worse and worse. lol

While checking the part number on the cooling fan module I knocked into the coolant cross over pipe and broke it.

D'OH! So, I was able to go to Audi and buy the last one they had for $140.

I am a little dissapointed to see the interior of an OEM audi part so rough....
wtf, why wouldn't it be smooth?

I also purchased a complete fan assembly with both fans and shroud/surround instead of just a single fan from Rock Auto because it was on close out for $68 from $170 or something.

So, Now i'm looking at Water pumps and Thermostats because I'll have to remove the serpintine belt and water pump pulley to replace this cross over pipe.
Im sure as hell not putting a 200k water pump back on if I gotta touch it. So, I'm probably buying a graf or beck arnley or gates waterpump and thermostat.

Hopefully, all of this together will make for more peace of mind in these high miles...

    Sucks. lol
I got the used oem Cooling fan module in the mail today.
So technically I could fix it. But, I really feel like I should replace the water pump and thermostat while I'm doing the crossover pipe...

I also figure I might as well replace the serpentine belt, tensioner and coolant temp sensor. But that's racking up the repair bill....

I just plugged it with a screw and some silicone and plugged the hose too. It was like that for about a year and 14K miles or so with no issues, because it looked like such a pain to change.

Really. You never got around to changing it? Or did a shop finally change it for you.

Ugh. I was messing with the piece that broke off because I had considered JB welding it back together, then it crumbled from being so brittle...
So I figured that went out the window.

Nope sold the car like that. The plastics in this car are so old that they just fall apart if you sneeze on them.

I think it's just a secondary return line or something, so it isn't critical or anything. I can dig up a picture of my engine bay if you want to compare the line breaking points lol.

    ol.
I came to the same conclusion on my old 2005 4.2 when I finally sold it in 2014. Starting around 8.5 years too many plastic and rubber parts to count just kept falling apart. The plastic parts on these cars have a design life that is causing significant issues to their owners.

I cant take that chance knowing I want to keep this car for awhile, and it's my main transportation and what Ill be driving my newborn around in especcially in a few weeks when we take a road trip.
I wouldn't be happy with myself If I JB welded it and something happened stranding my wife and our 2 week old on the side of the road.
(I type this as I sit in the hospital with him)

I bought the pipe (and wish I had bought the china knock off after seeing the oem part) and I'll get a few other pieces and just get to work one day soon... ugh.

I'm going to put a water pump, thermostat and temp sensor when I replace this pipe, and at the same time the Radiator fan assembly and used oem cooling fan module.
Hopefully this prolongs the life of the car and those issues from arising for a little while.

Congrats on the kid! I just have to worry about myself at the moment, but for critical transportation, I probably would have fixed it.

Have you had issues with the timing chain tensioners? I remember your car being high mileage, and am curious if they ever gave you issues.

thus far I haven't had any issues, 212k miles is certainly high. I know they could use a replacement, but the cost doesn't justify the repair. At this point I would rather buy a 60k motor for 2 grand and swap that in when the chains finally give way.

I just purchased a Gates Water Pump, Gates Thermostate, and a new temp sensor for a whopping $100 total from rock auto.
Im mad that the oem audi coolant pipe looks that shitty on the inside but its too late.

I swear.... Everything I touch explodes. Got the car apart and the radiator in service position.

So the nipple on the upper radiator hose broke when I was removing the fan assembly. I can't catch a break!

Now I can't get the hose to come off the radiator. I already took off the retaining clip. Im sure it's just baked to it after 212k miles. But I will absolutely explode if I break the upper radiator itself

Also, What's up with my throttle body. It sounds like it has a seizure when I open my door, close my door. Maybe this is my problem where the car feels like its stuttering
