A8/D2 (2001) Transmission rebuild kit - anyone out there have recommendations?

My car is at a friend's shop in Fairfax, VA, ready to take the slipping tranny out. I'll source a Washington DC area shop that has expertise with Audi trannys to bench repair it.

Much obliged for recommendations on which tranny replacement rebuild parts kit offers the best long-term reliability!

    Thanks, John

Replace the main Pressure Regulator with a Transgo unit. Factory unit is too small and leads to higher than ideal pressures over time.
Get the improved Kuhle clutch A basket - stronger design than the original, of which a breakage is the cause of many failures. The 'Land Rover/Range Rover' clutch A is supposedly stronger too.
As yours is slipping and not broken, it depends how far you want to go with the rebuild.

As for somewhere to take it, find a ZF specialist in your area. This transmission was used in Jaguars, BMW's, Land Rover's, Range Rover's, and others of that era, not just Audi's.
    Cheers,

    Marty
