    VAG-COM Seatbelt Chime Help

Hi, I know the title is a bit misleading as this topic is literally everywhere, but from what I can tell this is an odd issue. I've read problems that are similar to mine but not quite the same. I'm using the Ross-Tech Vag-Com software for my car, trying to disable the dreaded "seatbelt and door chimes" that are ever so annoying on this car. I understand the code change I'll have to change the code too, but what I'm having trouble with is when I put the new code in, it is giving me an error as follows:

    VCDS: Re-Code invalid

This equipment number is invalid! Equipment number must be 5-6 digits: 00000-262143

I can see my equipment number is 999999 which seems odd to me, and from what I read this far seems a bit wrong. Can anyone help me with this?

It's been a long time since I did it, but when I used VCDS-Lite (back in the day), I only had to change one digit. You can see the original code and the new code in this screenshot I took when I did it:

    I haven't looked at it in a long time. BTW, I've got a 2006.

Ya I have a 2008 2.0T, I'm changing two number as I want the door chime gone as well. It's just the equipment number seems to be the problem. I read somewhere that you can change the number to 12345 but The forum I read seemed like they weren't sure it would work without changing other numbers too. I just don't want to do it and screw other stuff up. I'm still new to this VAG-COM thing so I'm trying to learn.

I was also wondering how I could check my Torque Converter status with my VCDS. I think I got the slippage problem which is also common with these. I just can't figure out how to log it and what I need to do to measure slippage and stuff to prove that's what it is.

I don't know what the "Equipment Number" is unless you're just using the wrong term. Here's mine. I like the seatbelt chime (If I'm too forgetful to put my belt on I'd like to be nagged) so there is a 3 in the 6th digit.

If we're talkin about the same coding, you can't have 9999999 in there.

The equipment number is that bottom white box where te codes are. I just changed it to 12345 and then changed the seatbelt door code and it worked fine.

Hahaha no, don't worry I wear it all the time. With my luck with cops I can't afford not too ($150 ticket for tinted license plates -.-). It's more for when I'm sitting in my car tinkering with codes and mods. It gets annoying after a while.

Ah .... Understood. I can't imagine the fines alone otherwise. 😡

No. I wear it every time I'm moving in the car. The stupid thing is just so stinking annoying when you're just sitting there, though, I coded it to only remind me once when I start the car and that's it (5 in that digit). To be perfectly honest, I don't think I'd need any reminder at all, but I left it that way so it's still sort of "normal."

As to the torque convertor question, the TSB states logging slippage while in closed and control (regulated) mode. You can see my thread about it below with some of my logs. Just ignore the hard shifting stuff. That turned out to be my snub mount. I still never determined 100% that it's failing, but I'm pretty sure it is. Mine really only does the RPM surging when it's very cold (first time in the morning I drive it for about 1/4 mile) or when the weather is cold, so I'm just ignoring it for now.

Ya but I got a aftermarket warranty where the TQ is covered so I want to get it fixed. It's just most places want to take the transmission apart and look at the torque converter before determining if it can be fixed under my warranty. So if I can prove it via VCDS and the TSB by audi I might have a shot.

I'll defitely check that thread out, thanks for the help.
