A6/S6 C7 How To: LED Error Free Reverse Lights, Puddle Lights, and Front Turn Signals

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    I bought these from deAutoKey.

PWY24W Front Turn Signals Error Free - Available in White or Amber fits: Audi A3 ? deAutoKey

New LED Footwells for Audi models that are equipped with OEM LED Footwells ? deAutoKey

These LED's work as puddle lights or footwell lights.

    194 10pc CREE LED Reverse LED Fits:Audi A3/S3/RS3 + Many More ? deAutoKey

    Reverse Lights
Pry off this trim piece towards the rear of the car, there are little alignment tabs that go straight back. There are also two little tabs that hook onto the actual tail light.

Remove the two Torx screws pictured. Make sure they don’t fall down behind the bumper, because that would be a pain in the ass to retrieve them.

Pull the tail light housing straight out.

The reverse light bulb is the top one in the picture. Twist it until it comes loose and pulls out, then replace the stock bulb with the new LED.

    Reverse the steps to reinstall.

    Puddle lights
Pry the housings from the edge pointing towards the front of the car until it pops out.

    Unplug it from the wiring.

There are two clips holding the black part of the housing to the clear diffuser. Use a small flathead to pry it upwards until it comes apart.

I have no pictures of me swapping out the stock bulb, but it is pretty self explanatory when you see it. Not difficult at all.

With these LED’s, I had to bend the pins down about 20-30 degrees until they would insert into the OEM wiring. This wasn’t very difficult but it did take me a couple tries to get it right

Also worth noting, due to the little black piece of plastic holding the pins together, the OEM black housing would only snap into the one clip on the other side of the pins. Honestly, you could probably just get rid of the OEM black housings, but I left them in there.

This is with the new LED’s installed

Snap them back into place, then repeat with the other 3 doors.

    Front Turn Signals
Remove the two push pins that hold in the black trim piece right above the grille, and pull out the trim piece.

Remove the rubber bushing that I am pointing to on both headlights.

For the pass side I had to remove the airbox to gain access. Use torx bits to remove the two screws on the right side of the air inlet, and one screw on the left side of the inlet. THIS STEP IS NOT NEEDED ON THE DRIVER SIDE. After removing the screws, the airbox can be pulled up and out. You also have to loosen the air inlet clamp and pull the inlet tube out of your way.

    (Right side of air inlet)

    Left side

This is the hardest part due to limited work space. You have to jam your had inside the little hole and twist the bulb socket clockwise until it pops loose, then the bulb can be removed.

Install the new LED, and reverse the steps to reinstall/put everything back together.

Nice write-up, which ones did you order for your reverse lights?

The reverse lights and front turn signals were not LED. It's a 2013. The puddle/footwell lights are LED, but not very bright.

The 3rd link posted are the ones I ordered. I had ordered them from superbrightleds and iJDM perviously and both of them threw error codes, so they were returned.

These LED's are a little expensive, but they are really bright and don't throw error codes most importantly.

Thanks for the review and great feedback.

The black cover on the back of the puddle and footwell housing is to eliminate the loss of light from the light reflecting and it is pointless to have it with our LEDs because our LEDs are brighter so there won't be any noticeable loss of light. These can be removed when you install our LEDs.

Unlike ebay/amazon/ijdm toy etc we do not sell the cheaper LED Diode chips and resistor setup - when you compare our LEDs to similar setups we are always less expensive.

Yes we could easily sell $20 LEDs but we really don't feel those are up to our standards or what people want, when you install ours you will see the difference.

    The reverse is here:
    http://deautokey.com/product/audi-19...-rs3-many-more

We added the sylvania bulb guide which is pretty accurate but it is always best to check which bulb you need by removing the bulb and looking - this is also suggested by sylvania:
    http://deautokey.com/bulb-guide

But please let us know if you have any questions.

    Thank you

I see the reverse light bulb size is a 194. But I have a 2013 Audi A6, and reverse light bulb size is a 921. Can you provide a link to this?

    Thanks for the question.

The 194/921 is the same bulb under different names so this works:
    http://deautokey.com/product/audi-19...-rs3-many-more

We will add this to our site to avoid any confusion so thank you for bringing it to our attention.

The 194/921 are compatible/interchangeable - here is a list of all the different names for the SAME bulb:

Any solution to the C7.5 Stock Reverse Lights yet? They are not bright enough to light up anything behind the car when reversing in the dark. I read somewhere that the tail lights in the 2017 Audi S6 utilize an LED Strip instead of a bulb.

Are you referring to the LED pcb board? We have the actual LED to replace the glass bulb currently.

deAuto, below is a quoted response from a topic I posted regarding the brightness of my 2017 S6:

I was just wondering if there is an option to upgrade the LED strip to something brighter or is it possible to increase the brightness VIA VAGCOM?
