AvantoberFest 2016 - Bigger and Better

Most of you know this by now, but it is that time of year again where we being planning for one of my favorite weekends, Avantoberfest.

Once upon a time, it was discovered that if we arrive at Stratton Mountain in VT early enough, there is a Beer Fest and Chili cook off. If you need to read further as to why you should join us, get your head examined. We start the event at Historic Lime Rock Park, then cruise up extremely scenic back roads in NY/CT to Stratton, VT where we then proceed to park the cars for the afternoon/night and have some beers. It is awesome.

New for 2016 is the addition of the Sunday cruise. Sunday there is more driving in the gorgeous VT mountains followed by lunch at Long Trail Brewery, and a home cooked German-styled dinner back at the lodge. There will also be plenty of time on Sunday for pictures and driving videos of the group.

What day?
Saturday & Sunday, October 8th and 9th

Where do we meet?
The event will now start at Lime Rock Park

60 White Hollow Rd

When do we depart for VT?
Arrive between 9 to 10AM, we will depart for Vermont by 11AM at the latest. We will arrive in VT around 1:30-2PM.

What cars can come?
The event is open to any and all cars, with the central theme of the event focusing on celebrating and appreciating the Wagon/Avant.

I want to do car stuffs then drink beers and get drunk!
Okay, awesome! We also do a "family dinner" in the late evening at Mulligans, if you don't want to drink you should at least stay and join us in that - good food, great company.

Lodging
We are securing a block of hotel rooms at Stratton Mountain Resort under the Avantoberfest name. There will be multiple 1, 2, and 3 bed hotels rooms for people to book. -2 way radio
-Camera

That's what happens when you eagerly anticipate this thread each year, heralding its return and don't pay attention to the Noob factor of " Hey wrong section " Lol

On the other hand I would post just how great and fun this event is in any section on Audizine just because it deserves it ...

BTW ... Graham, I seem to have found a bunch of photos from past years on my photo bucket account. How would I get them to you guys so you can add them to the Avantoberfest Archive Gallery ??

Matt speaking of CT residents, I would like to suggest a plan to combine say around the Hartford area then to proceed up to Litchfield county and into Lime Rock Park.
Sort of like a mini Cars and coffee at 6:00-6:30 am then up to Lime Rock . Even those of us who live on the uttermost eastern side of CT can arrive at Lime Rock by 9:30 at the latest. For myself I'm open to meet anywhere to cruise to Lime Rock... That is what the weekend is about ...

Or at the very least once a tally of CT residents are set, where to meet to join up before Lime Rock...

I live right at the base of route 7 in Norwalk, and i will be organizing a cruise from here for souther CT people, and anybody coming form further south. If you are driving up from several hours south, and want to camp out at my place Friday night, please reach out to me.

I'll gladly drive down to Branford or No-Ho from my quiet corner.. Having lived in New haven and worked in Stamford I don't often get to Fairfield County that much these days... Plus it gives me a reason to stop at Brugger's or Starbucks .... Don't have either up here, just an overabundance of Dunkin Donuts .... " Yuck "

Its actually a pretty nice drive down.. Rt-6 to Rt 66 ( perfect road to begin a cruise ) to the Merrit and down ...


I really was using Hartford as a possible central but since everyone seems to be in the lower section of CT then I'm good with that ... Either way for me to drive to LRP from Brooklyn / Woodstock area it means RT 384 to 84 then up. Not as nice as coming down to Norwalk or Branford then heading up...

I think I'd want to be on the road by 7AM sharp. So that would work
