Brake Warning Light, MILs + Electrical Goings-On

    Hey.

Twice over the weekend I've driven, parked up for a bit then, shortly after driving off I've got the red brake warning on the DIS as well as the ABS and handbrake MILs. The fluid looks okay but the manual says that combo is system fault.

Weirdly though, both times I've not been able to fold the electrically-folding mirrors once stopped and yesterday the speedo stopped working too.

I'll take it into my local garage next week to get checked but I was wondering if anyone had seen anything like this so I can prepare myself.

What would cause the MAF to throw a brake error?

I've got it booked in on Wednesday.

My mechanic said the speedo gets input from the speed sensor so that could be the problem. No idea about the mirrors though.

May well need a battery or alternator relacement. Electronics go haywire in these cars when the supply is bad.

I hope not - it was only replaced this year.

Is the third brake light lit up slightly when parked sometimes (the outer brake lights stay off in this case)?
If so, might be the brake pedal sensor running on its last legs. It will give you quite a christmas tree as well.

Well the garage checked it out and said the ABS ECU signal drops out intermittently so it will have to go off for further testing and repair/replacement with a turnaround of a week!

I was going to cover the DIS to stop the warning annoying me until I can spare the car for a week but last night the power steering stopped working then the engine check light came on.

    Aaaarrgh!

I know the ESP takes a steering angle reading but my garage said the power steering isn't electronic so there's no signal in the opposite direction, meaning the ESP shouldn't directly affect the PAS.

Using Google instead of Audizine's search, I found this thread with the same symptoms:

    http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...ng-Help-Please!

Unfortunately it was never updated with a resolution.

I think we're gonna have to try and cram all our luggage in the wife's Swift and leave the S4 for the garage to sort out.
