    Steering knuckle control arm bushing fittings stuck

    1 fitting bushing on each steering knuckle for the lower control arm is stuck on the old control arms. I burned away the boots with a torch but I'm not sure how to go about getting these metal bushings off so I can reuse them. I don't know their part number is or where to get a hold of them otherwise. Any tips? I thought about a pickle fork or putting in a vise somehow. I try to do arm puller and it just moves sideways when I try to tighten it down.

    This has happened to a few others before. I remember vaguely heat being needed for removal. I'll see if I can find any of those threads.

    Thanks for the info, it's right on target. But my puller isn't as robust as that and it keeps slipping off. Maybe I need to go buy a bigger one. I like the kind of puller that looks like an A or another words shaped like a V. And it has a jack screw on one end.

    A pickle fork and a little heat works fine. Then clean up the recipient steering knuckle insert hole really well. Pack the bushing in your freezer for a few hours and gently heat the new knuckle around the insertion area. Put a thin film of oil on the insert bushing and it should tap into the new knuckle easily.

    Got them out, fyi point them away from your head these things are howitzer shells if your not careful. I used a pickle fork, got em in the freezer right now. Gonna put the rear wheel liner on while i wait.
