    A4 avant parasitic drain

Hey guys lookin for some help with a problem on my 2002 a4 avant 1.9tdi sport.
Mechanically the car is perfect, done 186k and starts, runs and drives like a car with a fraction of those miles, I maintain it myself and service every 5k miles.
It does have one irritating issue tho and that is a parasitic drain on the battery.
After locking up the car never fully shuts down, instead the hazard warning switch stays illuminated for 6 seconds or so, blinks off and then repeats this pattern continuously.
I've had a multimeter on it and recorded a drain of 800ma while the hazard switch is lit, this then briefly drops when it goes out before returning to the 800ma draw again.
I have done numerous searches regarding this and have checked all the usual suspects like the alternator, ccm ,alarm and the radio (even though mine is aftermarket) but still can't find what it is pulling all that juice.
In a fit of sheer desperation last week I hooked up the multimeter again, flicked the bonnet and door catches into closed position and left the car for a while to ensure it had a chance to shut down, and then I removed every single fuse from the main box in the end of the dashboard and guess what............hazard switch remained lit and current draw was still there.
So I'm taking this to mean whatever is causing the draw is not on any of the circuits routed thru the main box, anyone know if there are any other fuse locations on these cars or offer any advice on what to try next.
It's a great car and I just want this issue resolved so I can properly enjoy it.
    Cheers,
    Stephen

The hazard light staying on is an indication of a battery draw but it does not mean that the hazard switch is the actual problem. But have you tried uplugging the actual switch itself and see if the draw remains? The fact that pulling all of the fuses and the draw is still present is interesting. The first thing I would obviously do is if you have access to a scan tool like VCDS, scan all modules and report back with your findings. If not I have heard of the hazard switch staying on when the climate control unit is faulty.

Could be a possibility there, there are only 2 fault codes on the car,
1 is for no communication with the radio as I have an aftermarket headunit
And the other is for the hvac, high pressure switch which I just haven't got round to replacing yet (not much call for Aircon in Scotland lol) but I'd never thought of the climate control unit itself being faulty too so definitely worth checking, cheers

I do have vcds but my experience with it is pretty limited, only ever used it for reading fault codes and then for retrofitting cruise/dis.

Is it possible to see how much current/voltage a particular module is using with vcds? As this could really help narrow the fault down

The hazard switch/light is powered directly from the CECM. It sounds as if this module may be going bad. This module is located above the pedals in NA models. Not sure about the UK.

I thinks it's the same for UK cars, does it have relays mounted on it?
I think I do remember reading somewhere that they can get wet if all the drainage holes are blocked under the battery etc similar to what can happen to the ccm, again something else for me to check. I did clear the drainage holes and there's never been water ingress while I've owned the car but that's not to say it hasn't happened at some point in its life.
Thanks for the input guys it's really appreciated

Have the exact same problem myself except mine completely kills the battery in about 2 to 3 days when it hasnt been started or driven.
