KW H.A.S. to OEM Euro springs

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hey Guys,

I currently have the KW H.A.S. on my 2016 SQ5 and I'm thinking about switching to the OEM Euro springs. From what I understand it's a little lower than the OEM US one.
I do love the KW H.A.S. but I have some concerns:
    - The KW is tuned at the highest position but it's still too low for some of the roads I drive on to go to my favorite mountain bike trails.
    - My 5k service is coming up and I fear that Audi Stevens Creek will flag the car and void parts of the warranty.

Do you guys have any photos of Q5/SQ5 with the OEM Euro springs? How's the driving experience? Is it expensive?

    Any information/feedback would be great!
    Thanks!

    Hoki

O yeah. I was told straight up they will void my warranty for anything. I.e. they void an6 interior warranty for suspension mod because of added vibration. It could also void your engine warranty if the suspension shake your engine wrong.

Did you check with your dealer if euro spring won infact void your warranty?

Looks like this dealer may be really tight on anything you do on your own.

    Hello,

I was hoping to get some photos of the Euro springs on a Q5/SQ5. I'm sure there must be plenty of you guys who have them installed!
    Thanks,

KW H.A.S. to OEM Euro springs

If you go this route make sure you get the ROW springs and not the Euro springs that are specific to the TDI SQ5. Here are the part numbers for the full suspension setup that were shared with me when I was looking into this option (rear shocks are the same on the US model).

    8R0 411 105 DF - Front spring - Weight class 0JA - Green
    8R0 511 115 DC - Rear springs - Weight class 8R0 411 105 DF - Front spring - Weight class 0JA - Green
    8R0 511 115 DC - Rear springs - Weight class 0YD - Green/Yellow/Yellow/Yellow
    0YD - Green/Yellow/Yellow/Yellow
    8R0 413 031 AP - Front shock absorber
    8K0 412 131 E - Front stop buffer
    8R0 512 131 K - Rear stop buffer

I ultimately decided it wasn't worth the cost and ended up with H&Rs and B8s. I believe @Smittylube is running just the ROW springs though. See the first pic in his thread below.

Yea, that is nuts. I've never had an issue, and everything I take in is moderately modded. I cannot imagine the service that dealer loses.

I think at the end of the day we represent a small percentage of their business. Those who mod their cars also tend to want to find a good indy shop as opposed to going to the dealership service department. The only reason I'm considering doing my service at the dealership at all is to build a relationship in case I need warranty service.

I suppose it depends where you're located as well. You'll always see many modded Audi and VW around my main dealer. My other dealer, the SM drives a heavily modded B5 S4 and a B8 S4 with an aggressive drop, wheels, pipes, and stage 2. No matter which, it always turns into a convo about mods etc. But yea, you're correct no matter. Still yet, service is the where the profits are made from what the dealers have told me. I'd not want to turn away even 5%.

That's definitely all true. I guess one of the benefits of living around here is that we have some great indy shops that service the modified crowd. Of course, I also can only afford to live in a 900 sqft apartment here and not a Mops-style mansion LOL.

I wouldn't be surprised if some of these dealerships got burned in the past doing a "warranty" repair only to have VAG corporate turn around and reject reimbursement of it due to modifications. I've read stories on the messageboards about VAG inspectors reviewing major repairs and going so far as to measure things like ride height. I think they also have a lower margin on warranty repairs making it less profitable as well.

    Thanks all for the feedback!

I think I'm going to move forward with the Euro-spec suspension. I did a lot of research and here's what I should order (I have a 2016 SQ5, Pano Roof and Tow Hitch):

    Front
    - Coil spring front: 8R0 411 105 DG, PR-1BD+0JB (2 green paint marks) (x2)
    - Gas shock absorber: 8R0 413 031 AP, PR-1BD (x2)
    - Stop buffer: 8K0 412 131 E (81mm), PR-1BD (x2)

    Rear
    - Coil spring rear: 8R0 511 115 DC, PR-1BD+0YE (weight range 5: with tow hitch / glass roof) (1 green paint mark, 3 yellow paint marks) (x2)
    - Stop buffer: 8R0 512 131 K stop buffer PR-1BD (x2)
    - No new rear damper needed

Does anybody know if those parts are still compatible with the 2016 SQ5?
Also, do you think that the dealership could give me shit if I get those parts installed by an independent shop?

    Thanks!

Yeah, that's nuts in the voiding the powertrain warranty.
Shit you may as well go stage 2.

I use my dealer for all my mod installs. That way they know what they have done to the car.
The head tech always works on my cars, and has a racing background for setups.
I just stay 100% honest with them, and they are cool with that.
If it will go under warranty they do that. If it's something directly related to a mod I had done, it's on me.
I know that going in. I couldn't imagine a dealer telling you your powertrain warranty was void if you had a set of springs on your car. That is crazy. Never ever go there if that the relationship they have with you.

There are laws out there that say they can't do that as well.

They won't void the powertrain warranty because of suspension mods, but when your pano roof creaks, squeaks, or leaks, forget about it.
