Parking Brake Self Adjusting mechanism POS

Alright so after shoving just about every single pick, screwdriver, pliers, etc into the release slot in the self adjuster under the center console, to no avail, i have just about given up.
Literally nothing has worked, any time i feel like i get close the button just doesn't move anymore. If someone can please let me know what i seem to be doing wrong that would be great because in every write-up/guide they seem to just barely even stick something into the mechanism and it just magically releases...

If someone could tell me where i can find the stupid key for this thing i would greatly appreciate it because i called Audi and they apparently don't sell any tools..? Who would have thought, make thing that needs special tool to service, do not give access to tool

The devil itself (not my car or pic)

When i did my E-Brake i used a coat hanger and jammed it in the hole and wedged it downwards I found that it works better than a flathead screwdriver. Not sure if that will help but give it a shot!

OP, did you try that? I need to give this a try. I've put it off far too long.
If it isn't broke, don't fix it... EDIT. It will be broke soon.

yeahh ive looked at about every diy. that one was the most useful but the pictures are dead so i just had to guess and it still didnt work. i have not tried a coat hanger but tbh im not re-attempting this until i get my hands on the key thats made for this mechanism. one of the techs at audi should steal one for me to use

    Mine jammed up too.

I drilled a hole thru the rivet and it exploded in pieces. Then I cleaned it, rebuilt it (it worked fine), and put a bolt thru the center to hold it back together. Works great now.

ETA: It was a trick to get back together and reinstalled.
