Lets talk about getting a nice spoiler made for the RS5

    Guys,

Who around here could help us get something made in carbon? ECS?

The big duck tail from Balance It is nice - but I think a bit too much for the car.

Any ideas of who we could work with?

I wasn't a fan of the duck tail, it looked almost 'OK' with the spoiler down but ridiculous with it up.

A simple carbon lip like the one ABT make for the RS7 would look nice and not too ostentatious.

Don't our friends at Eventuri have a carbon fibre styling department?

hey guys...I talked to eventuri but they are busy with the intake business. They don't have interest in this right now. Maybe we can bug ECS for something? This seems like a pretty simple project.....

I found a local guy....I'm going to meet with them sometime soon. I'll keep you posted.

What would be helpful is you guys could hunt down some pictures of designs that you like and post them in here.

I think a simple lip like the on that fits on the trunk of the convertible RS5 to square off the rear wold be great.

    I'm up for idea though...

that would be perfect, something like the ABT RS7 lip spoiler.

Meh, I'd be hesitant to mess with the aerodynamics on a car as capable as the RS5. If you add rear downforce, you'll need to increase it up front too.

I agree with the leaving Audi’s wind tunnel testing well alone, there’s a reason the spoiler deploys at a certain speed and isn’t a permanent fixture. On that, the spoiler doesn’t exactly provide downforce, it reduces drag by changing the shape of the car as speed increases, this does have an effect of reducing lift at the rear but it isn’t exactly creating downforce. A rear wing does create downforce (and adds drag so will actually slow you down) but looking at its design on our car, I’d say we have a spoiler.
