So I've recently come into an '08 GLI with a 2.0 FSI engine that had a worn out intake cam. Swapped the cam, buttoned everything back up and realized I was a dumbass and am off by one link on my timing chain (All the slack is at the bottom of the chain, not the top where the tensioner can deal with it.)
To try and fix that I attempted to simply remove the timing adjuster from the exhaust cam, and was greeted with a bolt that would not budge no matter what I tried. Breaker bars, air impacts, electric impacts, heat guns... eventually it just destroyed my bit.
Has anybody else encountered this bolt being a huge PITA? (Torque specs for it are very reasonable) I really don't want to have to take the cradle off again, pop the intake cam out, re-situate it on the chain and have to remake the RTV gasket (already done it twice)... but I really don't know what else to do at this point.
