Just Bought S4 Do I Get This Warrenty

    Hi All,

I just purchased a 2013 S4 from an Audi dealer. The car has 44k miles on it and the manufactures warranty will end 12/28/16 or 50k. The dealer quoted be 2.7k for an extended Powertrain warranty (see picture for details) that covers 6 YR (Starting Now) or 60k miles that will be until the car has 104k miles. Any thoughts if this would be worth it? I keep an emergency fund readily available so I could easily pay to expenses out of pocket if needed.

Anyone get an extended warranty and it paid off for you or vise versa? I hear the 2013 S4's are pretty reliable.

I take it you didn't get a CPO car? Some will say you don't need a warranty and some will say don't own an Audi without a warranty. Do you have any of the service records for the car? Is it DSG or 6 spd? Personally after reading this forum I wouldn't own an Audi without a warranty. If you plan on flashing the ecu at all then don't worry about the warranty.

I'm in a VERY VERY similar position... Would be in for the comments! Purchasing a 2013 prestige dsg with 51k in the next couple days - deposit is down.

Dealer said/carfax showed all maintenance completed on time at Audi dealership.

Is the dealer offering you an Audi Extended Warranty? Or, some warranty by a third party provider? The B8.5 S4 is not known to have Power Train issues. Regular maintenance is key to keeping the power train together. I suggest you inquire about the Audi Extended Warranty. For more or less the same amount, you get better coverage that goes beyond power train.

If you decide not to get an Extended Warranty, I recommend setting aside the extended warranty money ($2,700) and continue saving until you reach around $5,000 or more, if you can manage it. Essentially, you are insuring your car yourself. This becomes your emergency money for unforseen repairs.

powertrain "only" warranty for almost 3k is a rip off, run dont walk from that bullshit...

i can have the finance manager from my local audi dealer sell you a complete comprehensive plan for comparable price.

Check which company is giving you a warranty. Yours is a power train warranty only. Are you sure you are getting extension from the miles on the car now. Price is good, I just bought 8 year 80k warranty that starts now . My car is a 2015 with 9400 miles on it. My audi warranty is good through Nov 2018 so I really not getting 8 years. It will be good until July 2024 $100 deductible , Audi pure protection platinum which covers all things except what is excluded, like brake linings, pads, and other wear items like boots on universals, shocks. It also costs $2700. Hopefully it will protect me from $18,000 DSG. Tranny failure and sport diff replacement which cost about $10,000, audio nav $5,000. These cars are great fun tio drive, I smile every day I drive it.But very expensive if they break . You do need an extended warranty, not worth the gamble ,unless your car is. MT W/o sport diff.
2015 S4, P+, Florett Silver, black /silver nappa leather, S-tronic ,sport diff,B&O ,tech package ,supercharged badges. All season tires ,cargo net, factory dip stick

It wasn't cpo because aftermarket remote start. He said they could have do cpo on it if I want but the price would go up. The car was originally bought at this dealer and all the service records I verified in the car fax.

If they offer wheel and tire warranty, definitely get it. I've replaced 2 rims and 2 blown tires over the past 6 years between my gti and my s4. It's worth it's weight in gold if you live in the north east or anywhere that the roads get torn up in the winter.

The nice thing is that the coverage I got extends to new sets of tires for as long as I own the car. Just so long as there is enough tread on the tire when something happens, they will cover it.
