    Optima Batteries

    Hey AZ,

Start ups have been getting weaker and longer. While replacing my interior lighting to LED's the battery went dead and needed to be jumped. Probably doesn't help that my car has an air suspension system either. The battery is from 05/2011, so it's already +5 years old and probably time for a new one.

I tried searching Optima's website for the correct battery for C6 but unfortunately it say's they don't have any that's a direct fit. I found a few searches where A4's were running them with no problems besides maybe modding the battery mount to make it fit.

I'm thinking about getting a Optima Yellow Top for my car since I'm running an aftermarket air ride suspension with two compressors. I like that they're smaller, more compact and lighter (~20lbs) but I just don't know which model will work.

Has anyone replaced their battery for an Optima battery on their C6? if so, which model can I use for 3.2L C6 Avant? Also, did you have to do anything to the OEM battery mounting to fit the Optima, specifically for an Avant?

Thanks in advanced for your help!

Optima is a lot of advertising hype. Get Bosch AGM battery if you want battery that has power and longevity.

I had two cells fail in my red top after 6 months and exchanged it for a yellow top. Dealer said the reds fail all the time. Wasn't in my Audi, but yeah overrated.

Thanks for the input Optima input haloguy628 & 14S4GWM! I have decided to stray away from Optima and go for an AGM battery instead.

What is the correct battery size/group for the C6 Avant? After searching Pepboys/Autozone/Sears/Etc. websites for the C6 there's quite a few options ranging from group sizes: 48, 49, 94R, H6, H7 & H8 with 730cca-900cca and weights 45lbs-58lbs.

So I need guidance in picking the correct group size (lighter weight if possible) & CCA/CA that will fit my OEM battery tie down in my 06' C6 Avant on air suspension with 2 compressors in SoCal weather where we don't really have to worry too much about cold weather start ups.

Bosch Parts for 2008 3.2L C6 A6 Avant I did not know your MY. Just change the year with the year of your car.

The different Groups are designating the differences in Cold Cranking Amps (CCA). In your case you want the highest CCA you can get so the battery will be strong enough to withstand the air compressor cycling. The startup puts the highest strain and amp draw.
