Picking up my new to me 09' R8 4.2 in a few hours, and relinquishing command of my beloved RS4. It's been a very bittersweet affair, but in the end ultimately a good one. Keep an eye out for a well maintained Daytona RS4 in the Denver area, it should be up for sale soon (traded in).

    Will have pictures soon enough.

    Cheers B7 RS4 section.

Usually dealers do not de-mod inventory. I've seen very few cases when that happened and it's always indy lots.

You Audi guys are so funny. It's 2016 and you sell a 2008 to get a 2009.
I can't say that I'm not a little jealous though.

That's gonna be awesome. You get the full v8 manual experience but with the engine right behind your head now, and an iconic gated shifted - very jealous. I'm not super familiar with r8s but is there a reason you went with the 4.2 over the v10 5.2?

Thanks everyone, she's great so far, of course in the first 50 miles the min oil light came on.

I went with the V8 for one reason, it's what I could afford comfortably and I don't regret it one bit. It's faster than my outgoing RS4, and more importantly the driving dynamics are much better, it's pretty awesome. I'm still getting used to the turn in, and finding it's limit.

I'll be bringing her up to you Rick for a fluids change and CC soon enough.

More pics to come soon, been too busy messing around with VCDS, and driving her.

Not sure what this comment refers to...? He bought a 2008 RS4 in 2009, then upgraded to an R8 in 2016. You're getting into the realm of supercars now... the year of manufacture is really irrelevant when it's this kind of upgrade. There will always be a desirability to these cars and many, many enthusiasts prefer this era to modern era Audis because they hadn't completely engineered out the driver engagement yet. I'm totally jealous of this upgrade. Its an awesome car!

I was being 100% sarcastic, and I'm sorry that it came across as jackassish. I totally understand the upgrade and the reasoning (even if it was a financial decision) to purchase an older example of the R8. I'm absolutely jealous of the upgrade, and would love to be able to make the same move someday. Unfortunately it's very difficult to convey sarcasm via text.

Cheers, I've fallen victim to the natural sarcasm filter of text many times myself. My biggest complaint with "modern" audis (upgrading from a 1993 makes the 2007 seem showroom new!) is their apparent mission to eradicate the manual transmission. It appears we are a dying breed...

Agreed. I hate that there are no more manuals in Audis. I'm not interested in any of their new cars as a result. I got a $75 test drive offer. I went in to the dealer with my 16 M4, told him a few months earlier is when I was shopping and Audi didn't even come into consideration due to the lack of manual transmission. Sales manager said he's actually been hearing that a lot! All we can do is vote with our wallets...

Interestingly enough, Porsche seems to be coming back to manual - GT4 and 991.2 GT3 as examples. I hope that becomes a trend that holds!

Those who want to drive are outnumbered by those who prefer to be driven. All of the tech and wizardry that goes into today's Audis, and many other brands is impressive, to say the least. Vehicles are so capable nowadays of giving you everything you need at the touch of a finger, wave of a hand, or audible command given. Unfortunately the pure joy of driving a car that has to be driven is disappearing as all of this tech is introduced. It sucks in a way. I recently drove the new S6 and I liked it. The car was comfortable, powerful and it's beautiful. I bought my second RS4 instead. Why? For what you mentioned above. I have a smart phone, I don't want to drive one.

Nice upgrade man! Last year a friend and I flew to Montreal from Calgary to pick up his V8 R8. We took 3 days to drive it back (around 4500km's). Always like the R8 however until then never spent much time behind the wheel. What an absolutely fantastic car. Comfortable enough to drive straight for 10-15 hours straight, fast, visceral, sounds awesome and was actually relatively fuel efficient for what it is. Everyone always says the V10 is so much better however the V8 with a nice exhaust is awesome! Great choice man! Enjoy it!

And now that you've had time to settle into having that new beast in your stable, do you even miss the RS4? I know same engine, but must be a completely different experience. You lucky dog!!! Nice pics...next lets see a shot of that gated shifter

The gate shifter is probably one of my favorite parts about the R8. If they ever made it for the RS4 or S4 i'd buy it in a heart beat.

I would think the gate shifter will requires a precise shifter assembly (JHM,...) in order to use. I seen TT guys made them but the maker retired

It really is oddly enough one of my favorite things also, the satisfaction of precise metal machine work is something else. Do I miss the RS4? A little for sure, but no regrets making the move. That being said, it was such a special car, I will always have a special spot in my heart for them. Had mine for almost 8 years! It's also not really the same engine, just the bottom end I think, and the displacement and output figures. I'm having a blast, thanks guys!

I can't say that I'm not a little jealous though.

I guess you find it even funnier when someone goes for a 964 or 993 Porsche.
