Started the arduous process of taking the motor out for a refreshing of the valve stem seals and timing chain components.
First unplanned issue I found was the alternator belt. It's a continental contitech 4PK1120 purchased almost 6 years ago with 27k miles.
This belt starts with 4 contiguous ribs around the circumference but somehow ended up hard, brittle, cracked, and scalloped.
For now, just posting observations as the cause is unknown. The OEM belt I took out @ 113k miles with unknown but not insignificant age and mileage didn't look this bad.
