I have a 2013 S8. An APR dealer here in Houston, EL1TE Performance, just installed the APR downpipes and stage 2 software on my car with the help of an exhaust shop across the street. The exhaust shop was able to cut some standard 2.5" pipe to make some slip fit extensions (no welding needed). Took 30 minutes. Don't wait on APR to provide the extensions; it would be easy for them do this is if it were a priority, but clearly it's not. So APR could take years to be of help. A competent exhaust shop can do the job without much input.
You could run the stage 2 software without the downpipes, but you probably won't get full ignition advance and it would be self-defeating. The software relies on the efficiency improvement of the downpipes.
By the way, the improvement with the downpipes and stage 2 software over stage 1 is very noticeable. Torque is instant and violent. The car has a bit of snarl now, finally. I ran 10.95@126 on the stage 1 100 octane map, and I'm convinced this is now a 10 second car on 93 octane. I timed a 0-60 run of 3.09 seconds yesterday when it was 90 degrees and humid. Sounds like you haven't gone stage 1 yet, so you have a lot to look forward to.
