Easy 65x65mm Throttle body for DBC conversion?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I am in the process of converting my car to a standalone ECU with an MS3 PRO and I need to source a throttle body with a 65x65mm mounting flange like stock. I know 034 sold a kit for this but it is discontinued.
I have read a obd1 Vr6 throttle body will work but i cannot confirm. It also looks like a Eurovan throttle body would work but i can confirm the size without buying a bunch of throttle bodies! lol
Anyone have any ideas or experience with this?

Ill be using the stock ETC with my MS3x. Most people dont go stand alone. You wont get much help.

was gonna say, I thought MS3 has support for DBW, but I wasn't sure.

It doesnt support die by wire unfortunately. I will be using one of the outputs to adapt it so I can. I will be posting a DIY to convert to MS3 so we shall see how everything goes haha.

ouch... not sure that's a good idea... DBW throttles needs to have safeguards in place.

I agree, although sometimes people purposely remove some of those safeguards anyway (such as to allow brake boosting)

you could build a simple safeguard, such as using the brake switch to interrupt throttle input signal (so no gas and brake at the same time), this could be a pain for certain situations, but its just the simplest form.

You could later add an arduino into the mix and either tap into the speed sensor or use an accelerator sensor to allow throttle cut (throttle input interupt) if the brake is applied only under certain conditions (above X speed or Y acceleration when brake is applied, or applied for greater than Z seconds)

That's not really the safeguard I was talking about (although that is one of them).

The main one would be the constant checks between the 2x TPS and 2x pedal potentiometers... If any of them don't match the Throttle gets shut down 100%.

Sure you don't have this safeguard on a manual throttle that say could get stock open (very unlikely as most have a super strong return spring) but on a DBW car it's far more important as you really don't have a physical link.

After quite a bit of research I've decided to go with the AEM infinity 506. I don't feel like troubleshooting with MS3 so I'm going big haha.

Greed, thats why I said "some"

The dual potentiometer checks would still be possible with something like an arduino based board
