Tire Damage / Michelin Pilot Super Sport 275/30R20

Long story short hit a pot hole last year and bent a rim and had gotten them all repaired and powder coated. One of the tires had a small bubble on the sidewall near the bead on the outside. Didn't really think much of it at the time as I had swapped on my winter tires. Put them back on this year and while I did notice the bubble I didn't give it much thought until I washed it the other day and noticed it had split open. . So with that I swapped my oem wheels back on until I can get the tires replaced. Have to say the oem 19's give the car a smoother ride and have to say they look pretty good on the car now that it's lowered. Have 20/25mm spacers on. Don't handle quite as well as the Michelin's but I can live with that for now.

Anyway my issue now is I can't find anyone anywhere with 2 Michelin Pilot Super Sport 275/30R20 as I know I should replace two at a time. All the tires have plenty of tread on them otherwise I'd just get them all replaced.

What to do, what to do?

    Pics for reference.

Honestly, I wouldn't drive on those tires at all. The tire is completely compromised at this point, and it's unsafe to drive at any speed. It's bound to blow out or drop the treads, and in that case you'd be paying a lot more to repair your car.

Why don't you order another set of tires while you continue to try to locate a spare Michelin? If you want to be on sticky summer tires and you're not wanting to wait, that's what I'd do.

As I already stated I swapped my oem set back on until I do find a pair of tires to replace them with. Issue is I can't find any Michelin's anywhere.

    Sorry to see that!

What's the mileage of the rest of the PSS?

I have one Michelin PSS 275/30/20 with less than 1000 mileage (originally purchased earlier this year from Tirerack) for sale, maybe it would help..

You don't have to replace more than one tire if the tread depth is within 4/32" of each other and if you are outside of that you can have the new tire shaved down to the proper tread depth. Tirerack for example offers that service. But yes, the PSS has been short in supply for years in this size. I've stayed away from them despite having the opportunity to get a set once in a while, but w/o a steady supply it's no fun if one tire goes bad like in your case. I've stuck to the P Zero R01 for my RS5 so far and the price of the P Zero has even fallen below the PSS, so it's the better deal now.

I know you threw on your OEM's. What I was hinting at though is that if you really want to run your wider aftermarket wheels, you might have to suck it up and just buy a whole new set of 4 that's a different model to hold you over until you can locate that specific tire. Those things are on back order world wide, and as far as I know it's becoming one of the hardest tires to fulfill orders on, behind the Sport Cut 2. Part of me thinks that Michelin is doing it on purpose to drive up prices. Way back in the day the Potenzas I was running went from $310 per tire to $640 in just a matter of months because of a short supply and high demand. Now you can get those stupid tires for about $150. Honestly, they were shit anyway, and there's no way in hell I would even spend $150 on them let alone $640. The tread only lasted about 10k miles with normal spirited driving and not "hooning." Some people claimed to be able to get 30k miles out of them, but I can only imagine they drive on the world's nicest roads to get those miles out of them.

Same thing happen to me before and I had it replaced within 2 days. Not worth the risk and inconvenience when shit hits the fan. Tirerack had the PSS 275 in stock a while back and they've already gone to back order status. Worth a shot: http://[http://www.audizine.com/foru...port-Tires-New

I'd have to check on the wear but I'd be very interested in that one tire. PM sent
