Audi R8 V10 Clutch Replacement.
R8’s don’t scare RSW.
Yes, that car….. Since the inception of the R8 we have always had mixed feelings. Some love it, some hate it, but regardless of opinions on the car itself, we always have been here to repair it.
Upon picking up the car the customer had issues with clutch engagement, braking issues, caliper lockup, check engine lights, etc. After weeks, which turned into months of battling with Audi USA the owner of this vehicle decided to throw in the towel with the dealer and seek out a specialist which brought him to RT 22 in Green Brook NJ.
After our initial diagnosis of the braking system issues we moved onto the clutch. After going through our process of diagnosis we felt as if it was possible the clutch needed replacement. Given the robustness of the factory unit it is unusual for a stock car to need a replacement clutch after so little use, but once we had the old unit out of the chassis it was clear we made the right call! How’s that for some heat!! The blue discoloring comes from extremely high heat, a sign of abuse and or excessive wear on an application like this.
This right here is what an OEM replacement looks like in pieces in the assembly lab… twin plate sprung goodness!

Luckily for this R8 and our customer the car is now finally operating as it should be. Going wide open in a Manual V10 car with the roof down is one of those things everyone should experience!!
