I decided to pull the trigger on a grille that wasn't the price of a stage I tune and ECS sent mine over this weekend.
Overall the grille feels solid. I had the ECS grill on my B8.5 S4 and this one feels just as good. The only part of the grille that feels flimsy is the lower grille where the "quattro" would be installed if it were an OEM grille. I went with the black surround to keep the black optics and i feel it goes with the overall feel very well.
For those considering this grille, make sure you have some good trim tools to get the stock grille out of the bumper b/c i can say that was the worst part of the entire install. Second behind that was disconnecting all the wires from the back of the bumper when disconnected as you only have about 6 inches to work. Make sure you have something to support the grille while you disconnect everything or get ready to sweat your ass off and potentially break something.
There are really only two parts i am a little disappointed in and that is place where the front camera mounts and the mount for the rings.
The camera mount took a hell of a lot of cutting and trimming to get it even installed and even after everything it doesn't sit perfectly. It would have been nice if they matched the back of a stock grill better to get the spacing correct to use the OEM mount. I ended up cutting everything off the front of the OEM to get the camera close enough to fit into the spot for it on the grille.
The issue with the place for the rings is that it wasn't quite perfectly sized and made it difficult to install the rings without breaking some of the mounting tabs. You can't tell in the picture, but the rings aren't flush on the left side and i may end up buying another set of rings to see if i can get it in there better.
Summary: for the cost of the grille i am very happy with the final product. As with a new part from any vendor there are some areas of improvement, but i got exactly what i paid for.
I used a great post from enigma1406 for the basic parts of the install. I would only add that there are a few more bolts in the wheels wells when accessing the bolts to disconnect the bumper, otherwise his post is spot on for a C7.5.
Now the pics. Car is dirty and the wheels are filthy, but you get the idea.
