Good Morning all! Just wanted to introduce myself really quick.. My name is Eric and I own a 2005 Audi A4. Its a daily driver so it is bone stock. Ive ran accross some replacement installs over the years that were a challenge. I thought maybe by joining the forums I could get some more help.

Sooo my current issue right now is a coolant leak at the back of the motor. I was told that the coolant flangue is where the leak is at.. And I also heard its a PITA to fix. Can anyone give me some advise. Thanks all and I hope to meet some cool peeps in here.

You may want to post that up in the B7 forum. You'll get more responses.

The rear coolant flange is kind of a pain to remove/install only because of the limited space of where it is located. It took me a few hours to do.

    I believe the OP has a B6 (1.8T), as B7 (2.0T) started in 2006 and OP has a 2005.
It's fairly similar but there are some things that should be done differently.

Basically best way to do coolant flange is to remove as many things as you can easily remove, have the right tools (of course), have good light, keep a magnetic pickup tool handy (prevent bolts and things from falling), and be patient.

That said I could swap out a coolant flange in probably 30mins.

There are 2 primary culprits for coolant leaks at the rear of the engine on the 1.8T:
    1) coolant flange as you're guessing
    2) O-ring seal inside heater core hose connector where it attaches to the coolant flange. This O-ring is normally not sold separately, but people (including myself) have found a suitably-sized replacement.
