    Wildly different oil levels hot vs cold engine

    I've got an A4 B5 1.8T 2000. When the engine is cold, the oil level is right at the maximum level, but after a couple of hours of driving, the oil level dips below the minimum mark and the low oil warning light comes on. I've been doing Auto RX sludge treatment for a year now (I drive the car very little). Any insights?

    Park on Even ground

    Run the car up to Temp

    Shut the car off and wait about 5 minutes for things to settle

    Check Oil Level


    You might be seeing a light for Oil Pressure, not Oil Level.
