Damn it. Missing my B5. For those of you that have sold and bought again, how long was it before you bought another one?

This happens nearly everytime, when will you people learn. The B5 is like a crazy ex... sooner or later you forget the troubles and want her back in your life. She may be crazy, but she's also "crazy fun".

I knew it was going to happen. It was a third car for me. I can barely justify 2 cars right now. The B5 is just not the right car, right now. I have 2 kids and they barely wedge themselves in the back seats. I don't know how an adult can even manage. That damn single turbo setup in Cleveland is killing me.

I've never understood that having kids is a rationale for getting rid of extra vehicles. You can obviously afford more than one car, so make it one that will fit the whole family. Any extra cars should be up to you

True. But frankly another B5 means more time spent wrenching. And I already have limited time outside of work as it is and generally work 2 weekends a month. I love working on these cars but my wife only tolerates so much.

I'm a big culprit of this, uhh for lack of better term, "problem." Here's my B5 S4 history:

-I had a silver sedan in 2009, sold that in spring of 2010 to buy a cactus avant.

-Had Cactus Avant for 2 years, sold it spring of 2012 to buy a 500 Abarth (yea, yea, I know har-har I'm an idiot, girls car, etc.).

-Sold 500 Abarth after 4 months for an Imola Avant in early Fall of 2012.

-Enjoyed Imola Avant for about 2 years (I've forgotten) and then bought a second car...that second car being another 500 Abarth to daily drive.

-Sold the Imola Avant in November of 2014, traded in the Abarth in January of 2015 for a S3.

-1.5 years in with the S3 now and I'm buying back my Cactus Avant at the end of this month.

I swear I was dropped on my head or something.

Yea, I've got 2 kids, and currently 5 cars at the house. One is a parts car though (Miata) that I'm towing to the junkyard soon.

For family shit, we use the old 4Runner. For small trips with the Wife/kids by themselves, they drive the Saab.

For me, we own all of our vehicles, no payments means I can get away with the shenanigans.

Plus, as mentioned above, the kids LOVE the powah.

This thread is funny. Literally thinking about selling my Casablanca avant. I also have 2 kids, and I don't have the time necessary to wrench myself like I used to. So things that I can and am capable of taking care of I need to bring it to shop or it has to wait. Plus in general, I just don't drive the car much. I never have (not even 20k miles in the 5 years I've owned it), but I would like to enjoy it more. Typically its only a nice weather vehicle, but when the nice weather comes so does all the summer family activities. With a busy schedule and it not being the most comfortable car with the family and 2 car seats we just don't utilize it even on nice weather days and typically we take one of our larger vehicles. I'm just worried that if I did sell that I would be here a few months later trying to find another B5. I've been contemplating selling it and my C6 A6 avant and getting a 2014/15 E63 AMG wagon since it fills the size need and also the speed need.

There will always be something you miss about the b5 S4 because you found your comfort zone with it. Replacing with an AMG wagon though will definitely help offset how much you miss it. If I could snag an 05/06 E55 wagon I think I would be okay that replacing the s4.

On a side note. If you decide to sell your casa avant do send me a PM.

Mine is still in a car seat, she (as well as myself) much prefers the avant to the other car

I posted my pearl avant for sale as I found a nice sedan I'm interested in, but immediately stripped the listing down. I felt ashamed haha! Can't do it

Awesome!!!! You are a sick mofo Gram.

I have a similar story. Brilliant black sedan -> Imola Sedan -> B6 S4 Sedan -> 335i -> Nogaro Avant. I'm never letting go of my noggy avant now. I think I learned my lesson.

I need AWD so the new gen E63 is the way to go for me. Id be smart though and wait 1 or 2 more years for the price to drop a little further. They depreciate so fast I'd be an idiot to buy one now. In 1 or 2 more years ill still be able to get a clean low mileage example for $20k less than what they go for now. For that price Ill wait lol. If I did sell my car Id prefer it goes to an enthusiast that would appreciate it so Id be making a listing here and QW. Hard vehicle to replace or ever find again so I don't know if I could commit.

I sold my B5 and regretted it the day I heard her pull away. 3 years later I just picked up another one a month ago. I'll never make the same mistake again!

YAY! Best news I've heard lately! Always LOVED your cactus avant and I miss your random pics of your car in the B5 S4 and Avants only sections. If you end up selling it down the road to pick up Eurotuned_A4's Casa Avant shoot me a PM cuz I'll gladly take the Cactus off your hands ;)

I sold mine about a year and a half ago and I regret it every day. The guy that bought it lives a block from my sister so every time I'm in the area I go and check on it and make sure he still has it. One of these days I'm going to leave him a note on the window and tell him I want it back if I can't find another one I end up liking more.

And oh have I looked, craigslist sure is full of used abused and salvage piles of junk. If you get a good one keep it because it likely won't stay good once it's gone and you will be back.

Definitely lucky how things are playing out and that I have the opportunity to bring the car home. I will do everything in my power to not let this one go again, sorry boys but you'll be waiting a while!

Do it. Little more difficult to work on then a B5, but are very fun out of the box. Especially if you pick a well cared for rs.

You guys have me cracking up Yuppie and Kruat. I wont list for a while, IF I even do. I'm going to try to enjoy it more this summer before the bad weather sets in. There are also a few maintenance things I want to take care during winter anyways.

I've got an itch to sell my 605 and get a cts-v. Let's see what happens in the next couple months.

Second or 3rd (current generation)? Not a bad choice for either one. I was wondering if you still had Nico's old car.
