2.0T AC Not Working at Idle, Temp Gauge Rising

AC seems like it's struggling at idle. I noticed that the temp gauge stays in the middle with the AC off. When I turn it on I hear the freon start to circulate, the compressor click on, rpms drop slightly, then the AC blows slightly warm air and the compressor clocks back off. If I rev the motor up I can get the air to blow colder but the temp wants to rise up.

I'm going to change the coolant temp sensor but I'm thinking its maybe the fan control module... Can I test this with the VAG?

Sounds like a low Freon charge. Check and fix that first, before thinking you have a radiator fan issue.

Thanks for the response. Major detail I forgot to add is that the car slightly overheats if I leave the AC on at idle because the fans won't spin fast enough. My gut is leaning towards the fan control module and my heart wants it to be the freon charge.

Changed fan control module and coolant temp sensor, checked relays under ECU, nada. Pretty much seems like a fan issue at this point.

Does anyone know if one fan goes out does the other also not work?

For anyone that finds this thread, it was the fans.

I'm having this same issue atm. Was there a way you diagnosed it was the fans or did you just replace them? I don't wanna start just throwing parts at mine.
