Engine Warning - new to me

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Just started the S6 and as I was pulling away I got a warning that says - maximum engine RPM 4000. And now the actual redline starts at the 4 on the tach.

No other warning lights at all, never had an issue but did have new transmission software update last Wednesday so I am thinking it is related.

Car drives absolutely normal other than having a redline at 4K.

Will scan later but since I am not at home anyone ever have this happen before or hear of it?

    Appreciate it.

"high" oil pressure switch, seems to come up a lot, not sure if it applies to the S6 or just the A7/A6

Google "S6 maximum engine RPM 4000"

I had the same issue. Audi replaced the cam shaft sensor. The error came back. Audi recommended replacing the cam shaft adjusters on both the intake and exhaust side. It took them a week to get the car finished. I believe mine was a P0218 code.

I am having the same issue now and Audi is replacing the cam shaft adjusters. @Phi399 Did the problem ever return? I am about to be out of warranty and thinking about dumping my S6 for something else.

I got a EPC light with this same msg about limiting to 4K rpm. Shortly after I got at CEL to go with it. Dealer said it was a intake manifold issue. Had to drive a 2.0T Q5 for 3 weeks while car in the shop waiting for new manifolds to arrive from Germany. I have <30k miles on car, stock.
