    Schwaben car ramp capacity question

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I have the 56" ramps and under each of the 4 pieces, it says 1,500 lb capacity. I'm not sure if that means that each piece supports that amount of weight, but according to the product specifications, it says "One set supports 3,000 lbs." I'm imagining they aren't implying "one set" to mean one side of the two ramps set, because otherwise that would imply that I would have needed to buy 2 sets to support the cars weight. Now, our A4s curb weight is at least 3,500 lbs. So my question is, is it safe to use these ramps on a car that weighs over the 3,000 lb capacity these ramps support?

You're only using two so it won't be an issue. Half the car is on the ground in the rear.

Yeah that crossed my mind. I searched other ramps and the $40 rhino ramps support up to 12,000 lbs compared to these $240+ ramps that barely support one fourth of that.

Anyone have a notion as to why the schwabens are so expensive for such low weight capacity?

Haha, good point, except I don't think they're made by ecs. Or are they?
    Is schwaben ecs' label?

I have the Rhino ramps not the "fancy" ECS ones. My ramps are used on every vehicle I own, including my 2011 GMC 1500 Crew 4wd and they haven't killed me yet. I would buy them again...oh yeah, I did. I have 2 pair
    Thanks,\

You'll be fine, as stated you're not gonna have the full weight of the car on them. And I always put jack stands under the car even when using ramps. Better safe than sorry.

    Schwaben car ramp capacity question

Heres my take. Doesnt matter if its ECS, harbor freight or Online. Ramps are ramps for convenience. Always use extra support no matter what, jackstands, jack, or even a wheel underneath. I have schwaben ramps, i dont stress about the max capacity because i always have backup support. Its straight foolish to climb under a car with only ramps no matter what the brand. Same goes with a jack, never use just a jack but i think most of us know that much. Thats my 2.

Because Schwaben. Tools for tool collectors, not gearheads... people that like to get ripped off building their "complete" tool warchest which they hardly ever actually use. Everything Schwaben is overpriced. From their overkill tool sets that include every bit you'll never use to their rebranded 5-piece plastic trim tool set which can be bought at Harbor Freight for half the price. It's the EXACT same set.

Someone nerds to make a fake Schwaben tool commercial.

    Update:
I used the schwaben ramps today for the first time to perform an oil change on an Infiniti g35 and they held up well. I liked that they are wide enough to accommodate wide wheels/tires and they raise the car 8" off the ground. I'm not sure on the exact physics on the weight displacement when it comes to supporting the front end of the car in these ramps (is it supporting exactly 50% of the gross vehicle weight?) but i did use my 3 ton capacity harbor freight jack stands as back up.
PS. Im a huge harbor freight fan/customer.

The change in height is marginal. Weight distribution will be nearly the same as when the wheels are on the ground. Approximately 55% I believe to the front wheels for a B8.
