    Should I dip it?

My car unfortunately has been getting vandalized at work. Started out as a few scratches and a door ding or two here and tbere. Then last night someone keyed my hood in a nice abstract pattern. Makes me sick. Anyways, it's too deep to buff out. So I m thinking paint job...then I m like, all it takes is a few more acts of keying to ruin my new paint. So there the light bulb goes off. I should dip my car! I m not gonna lie I always thought dipping your car was ghetto and something that younger drivers do. However, there must be someone at work upset with me therefore rules out a new paint job which I would normally cough up. If they scratch me up again. I'll just peel and respray. What would ypu guys do in my shoes?

I would get a dash cam. I would also consider installing a wireless camera somewhere above to see. Priority would be to catch this person for me, especially if it keeps happening.

I would also think about who I might have pissed of the last few months...

If someone is vandalizing your car then probably get some security footage if there is any to see who did it. Or install some cameras yourself. As for dipping your car it depends how well it's done some cars look great others not so much. I suppose proper equipment is required instead of the rattle can stuff. Anyways hope all goes well!

I feel like you would still see the scratches, even after dipping. If the scratches are too deep to buff out, I doubt plastidip will fill them

I work in a major hospital here in town and park in a garage so no telling how many or which nurse is pissed off at me. Anyway, I will look into a dash cam but is there one records panaramically? Doesnt do any good if it only records up front if they are scratching up the back.
Its a damn shame too. My paint looked damn good for an original 02.

Well, hete is the thing. I did dip my wheels once and it filled in the curb rashes nicely. So I think it will probably cover up the hood scratches.

Gonna get the kit from dip your car.com
Their stuff actually looks pretty good. Not sure how I feel about the matte finish though. Better then coughing up money for a paint job then have it fucked up again.
Sure gonna miss my amulet red.

You can get semi gloss dip too. Have you seen the new dips? They look like wraps almost.

Also, stop sleeping with nurses and they won't key your car ;)

If it's done right, a dip job can look pretty good. You could also look at "autoflex" if you wanted something with more gloss.

True...but peel and respray...better than getting a good paint job ruined again. Till i catch the culprit or stop working at that joint anyway.

Sounds like you either need to figure out how to be nicer at work or buy a beater to drive to and from. Based on this post I'd start shopping for a beater.

Unless you know of any situation that indicates a co worker is involved, there is no point in speculating about that. Maybe the perp is someone else.

I think the hood/trunk cams are a good idea. Whoever is committing the crime should be caught and prosecuted. Then you don't need to plan for more damage. If you ID the perp, or not, the cams would be a good deterrent, with a couple of small stickers "This vehicle is protected by video cameras" or similar.

I'd say dip it. I recently purchased a cheap B6 with the clear coat peeling on the roof and trunk lid. I did a little prep to smooth the clear and sprayed over it (dark green to white dip). Came out excellent, cannot notice any of the problemed areas.

I used a wagoner type gun came with my kit. An earlex 3500 I believe. Are those type guns techinally a hvlp? Eitherway it worked nicely and I plan on doing some house painting with it next!

Yeah man. Check my posting in "what did u do to your b6 today" thread. It ran me about $350 buying the paint gun and 3 gallons of dip. From awarehousefull.com.
