Need advice from forum regarding engine noise. Thanks in advance

Hey guys, i recently had my tranny rebuilt and a new stock turbo put in. Roughly 8k in repairs on my b8 a4. I brought her home and shes running fine but i have a weird rattle which is a combo of noise and vibration.....are any of you guys familiar with this?

Did they pull the engine? Did they replace the engine and TRANS mounts with new hardware?

Engine was rebuilt by audi last year. Valve body and a couple of other parts were replaced along with a new turbo with that small metal clip which goes on the wastegate arm.

All parts installed were new oem parts. I had put in the 034 motorsorts tranny mount a while back.

So you guys think it aounds normal?

What about the shaking?

Mine started rattling some months ago... like noisier than normal. Took him to the dealership and they found that a nut of the steering wheel was loose... retightened it and back to normal. Check that

Really? The parts alone were close to 6k

Torque converter and its seal
Mechatron and atf oil
New turbo plus all gaskets and clip
Oil and filter
Crank position sensor
Diagnostic and install



Plus some minor stuff i bought....
Ecs street shield and oil dipstick
R8 coil packs i havent installed yet...


I think thats it. I honestly dont feel i wasted my money. Just want forum member input on the vibration and sewing machine sound.

i had a similar noise but it was louder and had a sort of helicopter type rhythm to it. ended up being a bad tensioner and i had it like that for 1-2 months until it got worse and started screeching and smoking from grinding the belt at one point. also the alternator itself had a bad pulley/bearing or something where the belt attached, not sure which happened first and caused the others to go bad maybe, but i had to pretty much get alternator, belt, and tensioner replaced.

Mine is also making a similar sound. I took the video below last night. The sound I'm referring to is coming from the upper timing chain cover not the direct injection noise.

Basically same noise mine makes but with a vibration to it. Had the engine mounts replaced with the 034 mounts. Bought the tranny mount rebuilt tranny bought a new turbo...at this point im about to drop another 2 grand to try and remedy it. But seriously fuck audi at thia point. I might switch to Infiniti x series or lexus f awd

Honestly all the work im doing to this shit and its one thing after the other. Thats nearly 10k already Its like these cars are not meant to be kept, only leased and returned cause they dont last long. Dont get me wrong ive been an audi fan all of my life.....but shit, i hvae gotten discounts on the parts and the repairs by certified prosche and audi mechs and im still not near 90 percent. Definitely leaning towards lexus f the more i think about it and fuck this audi love of mine. Had a misdiagnosis by audi of lynbrook when my wastegate failed and would have gotten a new turbo but ended up paying for it out of my own pocket because of their incompetent technicians. Called aoa and they politely told me im shit out of luck.......ive spoiled and babied this german bitch but she hasnt loved me back and im about to dip and start a new relationship with a jap
