    A/C dosen't cool in drive

On my 2011 with DSG, while parked the A/C cools in park and in neutral, but not in drive or reverse. If I shift into neutral while rolling on the highway the A/C cools off the car, otherwise it blows warm air in drive.

    Any ideas?

Never knew A/C issues could be related to gear selection haha...this is a new one for me!

Yeah me too. I ran over a piece of road debrie on the drivers side and the A/C seemed warm, at this point I thought my system was f-cked.
But I turned the car off and it cooled until I placed it into a drive gear. And then I really tested to find when the car cooled and when it dosen't. I must have an open circuit somewhere in the system.

I don't want to take the car into service with an open budget on how to fix this issue.

Did you do a complete check if the road debris hit something in the A/C system?

Did you do a complete check if the road debris hit something in the A/C system? If A/C was working ok before the hit, then the debris must have knocked something out, disconnected something or cut something.

    A/C dosen't cool in drive

This happened to me a few days ago after I hit the rev limiter hard. (I launched thinking it was in M and pushed the gear selector up to shift and hit neutral instead). Exact same problem. I tried to clear codes in Carista but it didn't help. You have to use VCDS and clear a code in the Auto HVAC control module.

This is exactly what it is. I had to hit the brakes hard tonight so I wouldn't speed through a yellow when I saw a cop at the crossing intersection last minute. ABS came on, hard brake, yada yada yada. Anyway, I threw the car in Neutral after that so I would be sitting on the brakes and letting the hot pads just clamp and sit on the rotors. Light turned green and I put it in Drive and drove off. A/C immediately felt warm. I was like... WTF?! Then I remember this thread and so I pulled over and put it in park. A/C worked. Turned car Off and back On and A/C worked. Put it in Drive or Reverse and A/C stops working. Put in Neutral and it works fine. Went home and scanned it with VAGCOM. Found fault in the Engine HVAC module. Did a Clear All DTCs and that fixed the problem. Don't know why your app couldn't clear it, unless when you clear DTCs, it's really not doing what it should. The DTC Clear in VAGCOM is done via full CANBUS commands, a simple OBDII instruction may not be enough to clear some DTC and maybe this is one of them. I dunno, but clear your stuff with VAGCOM if you have it and if anyone runs into this themselves and the problem should be fine. I wonder if it's some kind of software defect in the electronics of the car, with one of the modules. Oh well, thanks to the OP for posting this tread... helped me.
