    A/C Fan Issue

Having A/C issues, of course in the middle of summer. I can't pin down the cause. A/C blows cold while driving but not at a stand still and freon pressure is fine. When I turn the A/C on, the cooling fans start to spin (not really fast) and then stop, then start, then stop. I can hear the compressor engaging but then disengaging when the fans stop. Is this a faulty fan? or control module?

    Thanks!

Bump for a reply on this. Having a similar issue, was gonna change my coolant temp sensor for $30 first and see what happens. Common sensor failure so... Next would be to hook up the VAG and test the fans. Possibly fan control module.

Through my research I've narrowed it down to a few things:

    Fan control module
    Fan relay
    Coolant temp sensor

    Any other possibilities?

Thanks. Another reason I'm leaning towards fans is they used to turn on full speed as soon as the car was started when the ac was on. So I'm thinking low speed was already dead and now high speed bit the dust?

I know I'm leaning towards the same thing... hope it's not the fan control module...

My issue is the pictures aren't loading and I'm not sure which connector to put voltage to. I jacked up the car and found one electrical connector but it was only two pronged so I wasn't sure it was the fan motors power cable and didn't want to blow anything putting voltage to the wrongs connector.

Yeah the plug they're talking about isn't under the car. Pretty sure it the one coming directly from the fan control module.

Thanks! I'll try this when I get back in town. still would be nice to get a pic of where that connector is located. I looked a couple times but I haven't been under the hood of this car much, been running pretty good for me the past 4 years.

Looks like I'm also overdue for a Timing Belt swap, guess it's time to sharpen my mechanic skills....

Jump the orange for one fan and the yellow for the other fan.

Just a heads up, ended up swapping out the entire fan unit, it's all working now! Also did the timing belt kit, thermostat, so far so good!

    Thanks,

When you did the fans did you swap out the shroud too or just the individual fans?

Ordered this. TYC 622540 Replacement Cooling Fan Assembly for Audi A4 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BG3GPYK..._iTYSxbMYBKEDF

The mechanic had to remove the old fans from the assembly and attach this. It was 4 bolts if I remember correctly.
