    2004 B6 S4 Secondary Air Pump whine

So I found a really nice 04 S4 for sale and snagged it for an awesome deal. Previous owner stated that the secondary air pump whines during cold start-up and I was able to hear it this morning. I want to get to it before it before I head into the winter. I had to replaced my alternator on the VW passat 4motion and that was not too pleasant.

    1. Has anyone done one of these before specifically on this car?
    2. How much time does it take?
    3. Do I have to remove the bumper/put the car in service position?

Look up "SAI delete" in the search tool, you can just delete the whole secondary air intake system, it throws a CEL but that can be taken care of with an aftermarket ECU (JHM maybe? Jake from JHM might be able to shed some more light on this, he's here on the forum somewhere)

I have a bad SAI pump myself, throws a CEL every 100 miles or so, a new pump is about $500 OEM and its about 5 hours of labor to replace it at a shop so that's a good $1000 unless you do the work yourself.

In my opinion the SAI is not an essential part of the car, its purely for emissions so the only reason to keep it would be to pass your state inspection.

Tell us more about the car? What body type? Transmission? How many miles?
