    B6 issues, questions

Hello! I'd like to start by saying I just recently purchased my first Audi, 2003 A4 1.8t. I have used audizine to reference and answer many questions I've had regarding the car. Now I have encountered issues that I do not know where to begin with. Help would be greatly appreciated.

Shortly after purchasing the vehicle I encountered problems with cel, esp, and epc light illuminating the dash. With these lights came loss of power (limited to 2000rpm) sporadic idle sometimes high around 2k, sometimes low, with the occasional stall out. Also the car would not start sometimes if warm, had to let cool to start. After a little research thought maybe the crank position sensor was at fault. Replaced the sensor hooked battery back up and the car ran normally again. Attempting to take it to work it died out on the highway while I was gassing her up a little more, again cel, esp, epc lights. Towed to dealership and they had a $3000 service invoice for problems with throttle body(said a new one was needed) possible crank sensor, rear axle seals leaking differential fluid, and some simple break recommendation and hoses. Assuming the quote was a little unreasonable I had the vehicle towed to an independant shop. Mechanic drove vehicle without problem for a week returning it to me insisting everything was fine, he pulled no Engine faults, and was surprised with power of little 1.8t. Was a little concerned but happy things were running as they should.

One week after picking it up, maybe 300 miles driven and I again the cel came on, and I notice a hesitation, slight Jerking from the front end at cruising speeds.

Other issues at hand: Windshield wipers will not park at home position, and will not stop unless the fuse is removed.
After disconecting negative battery terminal and putting it back on,symphony II radio has been unresponsive. Checked 20amp in fuse panel and 10amp in back of HU and both were ok. When reinstalling fuses I could hear disc changer but there is no display, does not play music.

Have always dreamed of owning an audi and had a list of mods in mind ( As soon as I can get it running normal) but this car is sucking the life out of me and my wallet. Sweet car, but came here looking for all the help I could get so hopefully in the future I won't be turned away from the audi brand. Sorry to be long winded, just so much going on its hard to say it all in a short sentence. Thanks in advance for the help!!

Owned vehicle 3 monthes driven vehicle maybe 1:(

    Welcome to the forum!

Does your radio ask for a code once the car is on? To get it to work you'll need that 4 digit code to regain radio ect... My code is luckily in my owners manual so maybe check in yours. If you can run a scan with vag-com it would probably help with all your lights and maybe would help you find the solution to your problem.

I hope you didn't purcahse the car with all these problems? My B6 is also my first audi and I loved it for the first 2 years, but the last year has been hectic and nothing but problem after problem. As soon as something goes I fix it but something else always comes up after. If you plan on adding performance parts once you have her running make sure you do your research as well, I installed parts that specifically claimed that I would have no issues down the road but that's not the case. just a heads up.

Good luck with fixing your issues and I hope you don't end up having too many more issues down the road! I'm sure people on here will chime in and help you out as much as they possibly can to get you on the road!

The radio does not display safe mode at all. I have the four digit code. There seems to be power to the radio, just no display on led, and buttons are not responsive.

Haha no when I purchased the vehicle things were great, no Engine codes to be found. Do not have access to VAG, was going to buy,but haven't had cash being that this car is taking it all!

Damn that's odd man! I installed a Pioneer double din HU pretty much after I purchased the car so I dont have much experience with the stock HU.... I hope someone can chime in and help you out because it doesnt make sense that it would do that...

Haha I'm in the same boat, I know I should have a good vag program (I currently only own an ebay one) and a boost gauge for diagnosing but Im so busy with replacing everything else that I dont feel like spending another 400$ just to know that i'll need to spend more money on parts anyways. it's very frustrating but that's my issue. Hopefully your issue can be rectified in a easy way
