I took my car to a shop yesterday to get an oil change, sway bars put on, and a high-flow cat installed. I went back 7 hours later and was told my bill was $700, paid it, and walked out to my car. I looked in the back to make sure all my original parts were there. You know what I found?....my brand new high-flow cat still sitting in the back after I repeatedly told them to put it on. Service Writer walks out and says "Were we supposed to put that on!" . Um, I told you when I dropped the car off to do that. I asked him if my bill included the cat install. He said no! Lol!

So they charged me $700 for an oil change and to install front and rear sway bars on a 2015 Audi Allroad! You got to be kidding me. Had I not looked in the back of my car they would have let me drive off thinking I paid for everything to get installed.

I filed a claim with my credit card company since I felt I was overcharged for what they had done. The CC company said my best bet is to get a printout of another shops ticket with a front and rear sway bar install.

Can anyone provide me with such a quote/receipt? You can instant message me if you don't want to post it up here. Thanks guys!

Holy cow! Sway bar install would take 2 hours, max. Front can be done in 30-45 minutes and the rear takes a little more work.

What shop in STL did this? Gonna guess Dobbs, they suck balls. Just noticed you are local. Feel free to hit me up for help in the future, we could have done this in my garage over beer.

Ah, that makes sense. They charge luxury ++ rates. When I was getting tuned last year, they were going to charge $150 service fee for the OBD flash.

Call John at ET Tuning and ask him for a quote. He used to work at Reid Vann and runs his own shop in Union now. I think his shop rate is $90 per hour and will quote it by book time.

Amen. And there is NO way that should cost $700. I got sway bars, exhaust, aleu kreuz, APR intake and an alignment for $750.

I was quoted $330 to install front and rear sway bars on my A4 in NJ. (I have yet to get it done.) I would do it myself but my garage is full of crap.

I had my links replaced which required removal and reinstall of the bar -- if that quote will count, I can get a copy scanned for OP. I think labor cost for me was $240 and a high end shop in the Boston area [I'd honestly expect our labor rates to be much higher]

Reid Vann is not the kind of shop that gets out classed on prices, by dealers, or your fancy Boston cost of living.

I was quoted $125 to have sways installed by a local shop. That is obscene. I ended up sticking with the sport package ones I have, but good luck with this. And keep @blbroo away from empty bottles and/or alleys.

Wow that shop is nuts! I do my own work most of the time for that reason, I would rather know I saved money to go towards something else on the car. I just had all new timing chain and components installed at Audi when they did my pistons for half of that, granted they already had the motor apart. I would ask around before you have anything else done on your car what the average labor cost is or try to get someone to help you out for a couple beers. I hate when shops take advantage of people like that.

Met OP today and he used my vag cable to swap his rear brakes and rotors. Car is looking great and he needs to post pics more once he has new wheels on.
