    Caliper slide pin dust caps

    Anyone know where to get the caliper slide pin dust caps cheap? They're $55 for 8 of these things which would cover each caliper. Part number is 11819000671 or the kit is 8V0698647 which is cheaper on ebay. Sadly in my searching the dealership is the cheapest so far. Maybe junkyard is the way to go? I accidentally threw the old ones out. My S4 brakes don't have caps on the slide pins.

    Wrecking yard soft parts are a crap shoot. $55 to cover all four calipers does not seem expensive to me. The boots are a relativity critical part for reliable brakes.

    I might go with the stiffening kit, it gets rave reviews.

    My question is does the stiffening kit fit the B7 S4 brakes? Are there different kits for the A4 caliper and S4 caliper?

    Yes. Same kits for all b6s and b7s (minus the RS4).

    I recently replaced my front brake bushings with this kit from O'Reilly Auto Parts. Comes with the dust caps. Tightened everything up nicely for about 10 bucks. You can pick that kit up from pretty much anywhere.

    I've seen a couple of reviews about the brake stiffeningkit and the most honest and Frank one that I read said that there was no discernible upgrade. Just that it restored the stock sensation in the pedal. I think old guy said he really liked it. Anyone got reviews on it overtime? Is it worth it on b7s4 brakes?

    My experience with the stiffening kit is only with the stock 1.8T brakes. The kit provided a significant improvement in firming up the pedal feel, and increased the stopping power of the brakes enough to be worthwhile. The B6 S4 front brakes I am running with now, are easy to get into ABS activated mode, and I would not really want more sensitive or more powerful front brakes, since it would be a bit to much I think. The designers of the brake calipers know all about solid mounting of calipers vs using rubber bushings. The calipers are rubber bushed for overall less NVH with the brakes applied. The stiffening kit also exposes the guide pins to the elements, and is more likely to have problems with guide pin seizure with more maintenance required to avoid that.

    Also with the flex in the rubber gasket thing being gone, your pads will wear more evenly.

    They were b6 s4 brakes. But it's the same kit.

    I suppose my experience doesn't directly translate due to the caliper being different but the brakes operate on the same slide pins so it should be similar.
