B7 A4 Rear Seat Latch

My passenger side rear seat latch won't unlock/unlatch. Tried using the key to unlock it, didn't work. The handle feels like it's not connected to anything. Any help to get this revolved will be appreciated. Don't wanna replace the unit if I don't have to, but will replace it if necessary. Thanks gents

They're pretty cheaply made and mostly plastic inside. If you're having trouble with it, it's probably time to replace it. It was one of the first things I had to replace on my car when I got it at only 4 years old. Unfortunately, I don't remember too many details of how to get it out so I'm not sure how to release it if it's stuck.

I think your best bet is to wedge a screwdriver in there and try to manually lift the latch, it will be difficult, but it is way easier than anything else.

I wrote a DIY not too long ago on how to replace the rear seat belt tensioner, so its not exactly what you're looking for but I do remove the rear seat latch which should be all you need to replace yours.

Bump. I'm just gonna replace the unit but I need to remove the current one. How should I release it/remove it with it stuck latched?
