    Question Front plate mounting options?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Thru an (un)fortunate set of circumstances, I now have a new, no-holes front bumper on my C5 S6.
I've seen this topic come up before, but without much resolution...good options for front plate mounting without having to punch holes in the new bumper?

The tow-hook plate mount often used on later cars doesn't appear to work on the C5 since the tow hook receptacle is hidden deep behind the fog grill. Any successful mods to make one work?

    TIA

I ziptied the factory license plate bracket/holder to the lower grill of the bumper.

I bought an rs6 body converted a6 and the PO had a front plate mount he said he got from QuatEUro I think. It mounts behind the left lower grill on a bumper mount I think, with only a rod sticking thru the grill. The plate then mounts to the rod and doesn't touch the bumper. It was easy for me to remove and leave just the rod when I went with a euro sized vynal sticker for my front plate. You can see pictures of it installed on his build page under "conversion a6 to rs6" It's about two or three pages from the end.

I do! I've had it for about three years. Love it for the most part. It sits in my garage needing a new clutch right now. It's been parked for a long time as the Korean push button ignition failed and I couldn't get any tech support on it. I ended up having to order a new ignition cylinder from Audi. After removing that and crossing my fingers that the aftermarket alarm and remote start system would still play nice, it started! I had the engine and the transmission out last year when the throw out bearing exploded and the pressure plate was destroyed.
Fixed a bunch of boost leaks and wiring issues and it ran great until the clutch started shuddering as it couldn't hold anymore. It actually looked fine when we had it out of the car, but 500 miles later...

I like it in that if my local State Trooper gets emotional about my euro plate, I have the standard plate in the trunk..
