PDR day is a different event than VAGKRAFT

Yeah, outside of the show itself, we organise other small satellite events for the community like this PDR day. We've also done an AWD Dyno day in the past but it's hard finding a shop willing to do it these days. These smaller events are very straight forward to put together, especially having already done them before. A show is entirely another beast. So we're happy to do what we can.

Yeah it was a tough call, when we looked at where we were in planning/prep and how much time we had left to the show, we decided that postponing (not cancelling!) was the right thing to do.

I was quite amazed you guys were to carry this off for so long watching it grow in size as it did .

Quite the feat.

Will and I got involved with the promo shoot a couple of years ago with our Porsches and was very impressed with the organization

More of a curious question than anything else, know that John was one of the founders of VAGKRAFT and passed away in 2014, how much of a role did he have in the planning and organizing? I'm guessing a fair bit.

He did. There were 4 of us when we started 10 years ago. We all shared the workload equally, dividing up the duties that best suited each of our skill sets. After John passed away, Kris and I took on most of his duties which was organizing the classing and judging of cars. I had never done that before so I had to learn it all. So if there were any complaints on that front you can put them on me. But honestly, I think I did a good job of it. Our hurdle was finding judges, individuals that knew what they were looking at with a good critical eye. A lot of the newer judges (who previously criticized our judging) were surprised at how much effort, knowledge, and discretion is needed to do a good job of it. What to look for, asking the right questions, listening to owners, spending the right amount of time on a car, not too short, not too long. John had it down to a science. Although I'm happy with what it is now, we're still fine tuning the process.

Thanks! That promo shoot was a lot of work, we can thank Kris's wife Jeannette for that, she did a fantastic job of it.

Thanks for that background. Hope others step up and volunteer for next year's event. Juggling this and other priorities in life is a huge undertaking.

im not sure how that works if it is only a four hour event and you do 8 slots , that is 30 minutes to take out 5 dents ? can that even be done ?
I have a couple of dents but one has paint broken so probably a no go . but im thinking about it .

This is how we've been doing it for the last few years and it's always worked out. Loonie/toonie sized dents are straight forward to do. Thilan is very experienced and makes short work of them. We've never had any complaints about the quality of the repairs and everyone has always left very happy with the results. If you have a repair that's more involved and requires more time, you can arrange another time to see him. And in that case he'll work out a special price for you in light of the dent day. Your 2 dents sound like the right candidates for this opportunity. Even with broken paint, if you remove the dent, you can fill the broken paint in with touch up paint, I've actually done that myself, with a spot on the hood of my car.
