2014 Q5 TDI Glow plug indicator came on - New fuel pump and module needed

My glow plug light came on the other day for about 2 minutes. I took my car to the dealership and they stated i need a new fuel pump and module.

has anyone with a 2014 Q5 run into this issue as well? wondering if i got a lemon or if it could have been an issue with APR Flash.glo

Luckily, I haven't had a fuel system problem with my '14 Q5 TDi (knock on wood), but I have heard of others having TDI fuel system issues, which can get really expensive. If your TDi has been flashed by APR, make sure to remove the flash prior to visiting the dealership. Otherwise, your TDI will more than likely be flagged TD1 and a warranty claim will be refused. Once you flash your Q5 back to stock, try to to get Audi to cover the repairs under warranty if you can(even if you have more than 50K miles on your Q5). I've heard of Audi stepping up and covering fuel system repairs(even outside of warranty), but that was mainly before the scandal so they may have gotten stingy due to the settlement.

wow that seems odd that a '14 would run into this already.

I had to buy an Adblue heater for my 13 Passat TDI yesterday. I haven't had any issues with the Q5 though.

I recall this happening on our '14 last year, fuel pump sounds familiar but I can't recall specifically as it was all covered under warranty. Car is stock.

Warranty is covering these costs, i only have 20k mileage right now so i'll be damned if i have to pay this out of pocket. I did have my car flashed back to stock prior to bringing it back to the dealership

they are ordering the parts so i'll post back with more details once the work is done.

Good to hear! Whew! Question: So with the glow plug indicator being on, did the car perform differently? Rough idle? Sputtering? Limp mode?

i didn't notice any huge difference in performance. It seems like my gas mileage is being affected but it's probably due to me using the air conditioner more often.

latest update is that the Fuel cap and module are in. I'm waiting on them to receive the Fuel pump then i'm bringing in the car for service. ETA 7/14
