My back up camera has always been a bit spotty. It works 90% of the time, but then there are drop outs and such at times.
The dealership replaced the module, some time ago, under warranty. Some of the issues continued, and as I'm not fond of the dealership, I just lived with it.
I finally had a look, and found a few things.
First, the dealership had coded it wrong. It was coded for a vehicle with a trailer hitch, and wrong car. I recoded, and will talk to them about that. I really should have checked that some time ago, as I know this one group has dropped the ball in the past.
The other issue, was the grey connector, that comes off the camera, was hanging. Looking at what is in the area, there is actually a black clip, that this connector is supposed to clip into. There is a round side, and square side, so it is easy to clip back into place. My guess is the clip helps ensure the output video is constant by keeping the two haves of the connector snug. I used some tape to ensure it would not come off again. It is fairly easy to remove the rear trim, though a second pair of hands helped me re-assemble the inside latch mechanism.
So far, I've been getting 100%, so hopefully this has now sorted everything.
