Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hello everyone. I have H&R spring setup on stock Magnetic ride and I want to upgrade for track ready setup.
What are Top of the line brand and model for our S3 car ?

Any brand better than Bilstein B16 PSS10 Coilovers? If so what is their part number for our S3?

    Thanks guys!

First off, since you have the EDC system in your car, you're going to need an EDC cancellation unit should you decide to go with a coilover setup. I personally find the S3's EDC pretty decent in most situations, but to each his own. PSS10s are exceptional coilovers and IMHO, the best bang for your buck setup. They are not cheap, but you're buying nothing but quality with Bilstein. I've ran PSS10s on almost every performance vehicle I've owned and loved them. However, if you want "top of the line," you could go with Ohlins, KW-V3's or even H&R's RSS+ setup. It all depends on what your wallet can afford and the "return on investment" scenario.

Look into this, if you want to keep your magnetic dampers.

I get the desire to mod one's car but I'm guessing 90% of drivers out there can't even fully exploit the stock suspension with an alignment and a good set of tires. I have to say, for a bone stock car, I was pretty impressed with the S3 on track. While it's not quite as razor sharp as some track focused cars, it's capabilities are very high.

I'd suggest a set of RE71R's and some good brakes. Car is awesome.

i think you hit it, everyone seems to think they need to change suspension to go on the track but in reality the problem is not the car its the driver / lack of experience ;)

not saying your not a good driver OP obviously I have no idea I am just generalizing ;)

When I had TTRS, my track event were usually two days per event. I do track once a month during summer and fall. So, i guess around 6 events per year which equals to around 12 days...per year

If you really want top of the line, I'd hit up PSI and see if they have plans to release a Raceline kit for the S3, or can custom-valve a set of TTX dampers for you: http://performanceshock.com/?main_pa...ath=65_112_237

I had TTX Ohlins from PSI on my RS4, and they were absolutely exceptional. Blew the LMJ-based Stasis Motorsports out of the water.

Agree with above: top of the line would be Ohlin or MCS. The secret is finding a local shop that actually knows how to set them up properly. Huge difference between an off the shelf set of coilovers and a propertly aligned and setup set.

It depends now, these modern day cars are a bit different. None of the DCC cancellation kits work on this car yet, or at least for what they're advertised to do. The stock suspension is actually quite good. Matched with the right springs and the right spring rates, you can get pretty similar performance for a fraction of the cost.

OP I'd like to speak with you about MSS Kits. It sounds exactly what you need to satisfy your driving abilities and the characteristics you're looking for. You may be familiar coming from the TTRS world, the new kits we are currently waiting on should match to any driving style you prefer and give you all the adjust ability you likely will ever need.

See prior posts. I was actually advocating something more along the lines of stock or lightly modded setup vs. coilovers ;)
