Steering rack - how to secure inner boot

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Steering rack: has anybody come up with a good way to secure the boot on the inside of the rack?

If zip tie: good tip how to get it really tight?
"hose clamp" that is tightened perpendicular? Not sure if such thing exists.
Or OEM clamp and a fancy tool?

    hehe, i have to laugh
i asked this same question over on QW, and wound up buying a pair of side crimp oetikers to change out a torn inner boot

if you go zip tie, all you need are super long needle nose pliers

^^ deja vu, I feel like I answered this same question couple of weeks ago haha . Good to hear that the side crimp tool and oetiker worked out, that's the way to do it. Anything else will come off.

"Side Crimp" sounds like the magic word. Googling right now!

I used a pair of long nosed wire cutters, squeezed the clamp as tight as possible. Not perfect. But definitely tight enough. The hardest part was getting the new boot over the end of the rack..It was a real tight fit. Warmed it in very hot water made it easier. Making what should be simple things as challenging as possible is definitely and Audi hallmark.
